As part of Steigenberger Hotel Group’s strategic plans to expand their portfolio internationally, Andrew Reitmaier has recently been appointed Chief Development Officer. Starting on June 1, he will be responsible for identifying potential locations and strategic partners, as well as planning and executing development initiatives for the group. Andrew Reitmaier succeeds Claus-Dieter Jandel, who in his new role as Chief Operating Officer Franchise will steer the franchise activities of the company as well as managing special projects for the board of directors.
Andrew Reitmaier is well known within the hospitality industry for his 15 years of experience in consulting, development and strategic planning and brings with him extensive experience and a strong track record of achievement in leading and contributing to the strategic growth, diversification and profitability of both hotel operating and owning companies. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Development for the corporate office of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts where he was instrumental in co-ordinating the development activities and strategic planning for the group, with a strong emphasis on the EMEA region.
Prior to joining Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Andrew Reitmaier was employed as Vice President of Development for the M.A. Kharafi Group, a multinational Fortune 500 Company Hospitality Holdings where he played an integral role in setting up the corporate development structure and business planning activities of the hotel division, as well as identifying and evaluating investment opportunities and structuring business deals. Additionally, he has a strong consulting background where he has held various positions at Arthur Andersen’s hospitality and real estate practices in both the Middle East and Europe.
Andrew Reitmaier holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Hotel Management from Manchester Metropolitan University.
"His many years of expertise in business development matters and his international experience will enable Andrew Reitmaier to provide the best possible support for our company", explained Arco Buijs, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG.
Andrew Reitmaier takes over as Chief Development Officer from Claus-Dieter Jandel, who successfully reorganised, expanded and ran the Business Development division for two and a half years. Jandel will now take on the role of Chief Operating Officer Franchise, where he will be actively involved in the further expansion of the franchise division. This role combines intensive support for the company’s franchise partners with management responsibility for special projects for the board of directors. CEO Arco Buijs says, “We will continue to grow through franchise contracts as part of our international expansion. It is therefore important to strengthen the personnel in this division. His wealth of hotel expertise means that Claus-Dieter Jandel is definitely the right man for this job.”
Claus-Dieter Jandel has enjoyed a long career with Steigenberger. He has been in a series of leading roles within the company since joining in 1988: initially as Hotel and Regional Director in Bad Griesbach, and from 1993 onwards as Regional Director in the Frankfurt company headquarters. He was made a fully authorised representative of the company in 1998. In 2003 he was tasked with the job of restructuring and managing the Human Resources division before presiding over business development from January 2009.
