From June 3-5, 2011, the Flash Forward Festival at Fairmont Battery Wharf will transform the hotel’s unoccupied commercial space along Boston’s waterfront into stunning art galleries. Put together by the Magenta Foundation, Flash Forward is an innovative festival celebrating internationally acclaimed contemporary photographers as well as local Boston artists. An extension of The Magenta Foundation’s annual emerging photography competition, Flash Forward was established as a platform to promote emerging artists.
As the Chinese film industry gains more and more attention from moviegoers at home and abroad, The Shanghai Film Festival has become a premier showcase for the country’s hottest filmmakers. Taking place June 11-19, 2011, this celebration of Chinese cinema has become a major player in the film world, and is the most important film festival in China. To fully take advantage of the city and celebrations, staying at the nearby Fairmont Peace Hotel will give visitors a taste of Shanghai’s glamorous past and present.
