British Airways is enhancing its route network to give customers even more choice to do their Christmas shopping in Europe with the launch of the new Scandinavia route at the end of this month.

British Airways is launching its flights to Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city by introducing twice daily flights to Gothenburg from Heathrow Terminal 5 at the start of the winter schedule 2010.

Richard Tams, British Airways' head of UK and international sales, said: "We are really excited about flying to this fabulous city on the south west coast of Sweden. It boasts Michelin star restaurants, culture and the best views of the famous Northern lights. The schedule is perfect for UK originating day round trips, and for connections onto the worldwide network."

British Airways offers a selection of hand picked 2 to 5-star hotels in Gothenburg, ideally suited to the urban tourist seeking sophistication. The 4-star First Hotel G is one choice for a stay in Gothenburg, located just above the central station in the heart of the city. Another choice is the 3* Apple hotel, offering easy to use public transport links and close to the famous Boulevard Avenue with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops.

Many feel that this time of the year is a great time to travel to the city and visit Scandinavia's biggest amusement park, Liseburg Amusement Park, which houses more than 60 stalls, filling the air with Christmas joy. The market takes place between November 12 and December 30, 2010. British Airways also offers a wide range of destinations perfect for Christmas and New Year breaks. Customers can choose between packages to old favourites like Christmas city breaks to Berlin, Salzburg and Vienna. Other top Christmas markets in Europe include Prague, Innsbruck and Budapest. Most markets start middle of November and last until the end of December.

Ski holidays are also available with British Airways serving over 30 of the globe's best winter sport destinations to suit all ranges of availabilities and seriousness. Innsbruck and BA's new flight to Chambery from London City being top of the list for the coming winter, with ski holidays to Canada following closely behind.
