Company Marks 20th Anniversary of CasaMagna Marriott Resorts in Cancun and Puerto Vallarta

This week, Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) is celebrating more than 40 years of service to guests and employees throughout Mexico, as well as the 20th anniversary of the CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort and the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort.

Coinciding with Marriott's global customer appreciation week, senior executives and property leaders representing all of Marriott's Mexico hotels are gathering in Mexico City to personally thank local Mexican customers for their business and support of Marriott's family of brands. Global customer appreciation week is the company's annual celebration recognizing customers and guests from around the world.

"Marriott opened its first international hotel in beautiful Acapulco, Mexico, 41 years ago, and right away we realized that this country is a fantastic travel destination and would provide great opportunity for the company to grow globally," said J.W. Marriott, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer, Marriott International, Inc. "Since then, we have continued to grow and expand throughout Mexico to ensure guests experience the highest level of service and top notch accommodations while exploring this wonderful nation."

Two of Marriott's flagship resorts in Mexico are also celebrating an important milestone this week. On October 18, 1990 the CasaMagna Marriott Resort in Cancun and the CasaMagna Marriott Resort in Puerto Vallarta opened their doors to guests in a simultaneous celebration, and have been a popular destination for travelers in Mexico for the past 20 years.

"We recognize the importance of Mexico as a premier business and leisure destination, and a key source market," said Manuel Ovies, area vice president of operations for Marriott International in Mexico. "We are here this week to reinforce our commitment to Mexico, having been a proud member of the communities in which we operate around the country for many years," he continued.

In addition to serving guests traveling to the country, Marriott also has a long standing commitment to serving its valued associates. Several Marriott hotels in Mexico were recently named a "Best Place to Work" in Mexico in the 2010 Best Employers in Mexico study, conducted by The Great Places to Work Institute. These hotels include the JW Marriott and CasaMagna Marriott hotels in Cancun, the JW Marriott Mexico City, the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta and the Tijuana Marriott hotel.

Marriott is currently represented in Mexico by 18 hotels spanning five lodging brands, including The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott Hotels and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. The company has plans to open the new JW Marriott Resort Riviera Maya in 2012, and the JW Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort in 2013.
