Benchmark Hospitality International has appointed Phillip Starling director of operations for Marenas Resort, the ocean-side property situated on a barrier island in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, north of Miami. Jim Franklin, general manager, made the announcement.
“I’m so pleased to welcome Phillip to Marenas Resort,” said Mr. Franklin. “He brings extensive hospitality experience within a wide variety of Florida luxury markets to our resort, and his strong operational leadership skills are a wonderful addition to our executive team.”
Most recently, Mr. Starling served as general manager of The Grove Isle Hotel & Spa, located in Coconut Grove, Florida. He has previously held senior management positions, including managing director, general manager and hotel manager, for hotels and resorts throughout Florida and Kentucky. Earlier in his career, Starling served in positions of leadership within the Housekeeping departments for hotels in Georgia and Florida.
A native of the US Virgin Islands with a great appreciation for oceanfront properties, Phillip Starling received his Associates Degree at Valencia Community College, located in Orlando. Florida. He is a Certified Hospitality Housekeeping Executive through the American Hotel & Lodging Association. Mr. Starling is a United States Military veteran, having served in the US Army where he spent the majority of his time stationed in Germany. He resides in Miami.
