Resort Still Tops Among Loyal Guests and New Guests

The best just keeps on getting better. And this year, as the management and staff celebrate a milestone 20th anniversary, there are many reasons why the resort, Maui's only AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five-Star rated property, continues to "wow" guests and the media alike. "All of us at the Four Seasons Resort Maui consider ourselves stewards of a resort that has continually evolved to anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of our very special guests who so often consider us their 'second home,'" says Thomas Steinhauer, regional vice president and general manager.

Considered the flagship resort for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, the property has undergone an extensive $50 million renovation in recent years. The resort's design is timeless and blends perfectly with the relaxed atmosphere and elegance of Maui. It is home to three top award-winning restaurants: DUO Steak and Seafood, Ferraro's Bar e Ristorante and Wolfgang Puck's Spago Maui. The world-renowned Spa at the Four Seasons, which integrates the latest spa trends while honoring the healing traditions of Hawaii and cultures of the Pacific Rim, is another reason why guests return to the resort year-after-year.

"We see a growing demand and interest in native healing techniques among our guests," says Pat Makozak, senior spa director at Four Seasons Resort Maui. It's only befitting that we feature Maui's natural healing environment and native Hawaiian traditions in our treatment offerings to create a spa experience unmatched by any other spa or resort." This Fall, the resort will launch a new Spa Wellness Series, a year-long program in which celebrated wellness experts from around the globe will be invited to the property to showcase their talents to hotel guests.

"But the number one reason for our continued success and guest loyalty," says Steinhauer, "is our staff. We empower them to focus on accommodating guest needs in a flexible and caring manner. They are definitely responsible for the incredible amount of 'word-of-mouth' we receive." With a resort staff to guest ratio of two employees per guest room, vacationers have the peace of mind that they will be attentively taken care of on every visit. Better yet, there is also a wealth of complimentary extras so guests do not have to reach for their wallets at every turn. The list is long but includes such guest services as no resort fee; a wide array of daily fitness classes, twice daily housekeeping; Kids for All Seasons, a complete daily children's program for ages 5-12; beachside and poolside services; Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling program; scuba clinics twice daily; and much more.

Add to this, the resort's new $9 million infinity-edged Serenity Pool, an adults-only retreat located on a tucked-away terrace with panoramic ocean views for the best sunsets on Maui. Plush amenities and services include: custom-tailored luxury cabanas, underwater music system, custom-tailored massages and facials, and a lush tropical garden setting.

And if that isn't enough, guests can turn their eyes skyward. The resort is known for its spectacular stargazing - both in the night sky and Hollywood-style.

"We are truly a resort for all guests - a place for both the privacy seeker and for those who like to connect with other guests. I believe our success has come from 20 years of listening to our guests and our employees, along with our willingness to adapt, invest and continually improve our services and facilities. We never will accept the status quo," remarks Steinhauer.

Coinciding with the 20th anniversary, Four Seasons Resort Maui is offering two of its most popular packages - Fifth Night Free stay a minimum of four consecutive nights and get the fifth night free, or Experience More, offering a nightly resort credit up to $200. Both packages are based on availability during select dates through December 16, 2010.
