Fairmont adds new jewels along the ancient silk road
Company opens new hotels in Egypt, China and United Arab Emirates
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts today announced the official opening of three new properties along the ancient path of the silk road. Fairmont Nile City, in Cairo, Egypt; Fairmont Yangcheng Lake in Kunshan, China and Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, all officially opened the doors to guests today.
Built within the prestigious Nile City corporate complex, the 567-room Fairmont Nile City is ideally positioned for conferences and large events. The hotel offers more than 11,000 square feet of indoor space plus over 5,000 square feet of outdoor space for meetings and conventions. All meeting rooms are naturally lit and provide sweeping panoramic views of the Nile River and the Pyramids in the distance.
Featuring the largest spa in Cairo, The Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Nile City features 22,000 square feet of private sanctuaries for men and women and sparkling views of the city and river below. With its elegant art deco design and cool urban sophistication, Fairmont Nile City will provide a perfect complement to the gracious comfort of the Fairmont Towers, Heliopolis, located in a tree-lined suburb of Cairo near the airport and shopping districts.
Fairmont Yangcheng Lake is located in Kunshan, on the shores of the scenic Yang Cheng Lake. Kunshan, a temperate, picturesque town situated in the southeastern part of Jiangsu Province, lies in the Yangtze River Delta between metropolitan Shanghai and the renowned historical city of Suzhou.
With 200 deluxe guest rooms and suites, Fairmont Yangcheng Lake is an ideal location for weddings, conferences or significant occasions. In addition to beautiful outdoor event sites, the resort offers a Willow Stream Spa, fitness centre, indoor and outdoor pools and a 4,000 square foot Grand Ballroom with a magnificent view of the lake.
Guests and locals will enjoy a 6,500 square foot signature Chinese restaurant featuring Cantonese cuisine and diverse Chinese specialties, including regional delicacies such as duck-soup noodles, Zhoushi soy-sauced duck and the famous hairy crab. The local crab is an attractive draw to gourmands and foodies of Shanghai who often travel to the area for a taste of its rich and varied culinary traditions.
Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, meaning “Gateway to the Sea” is Fairmont’s first property to open in the capital of United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the Abu Dhabi Creek. Positioned at the mainland gateway of the city, the hotel sits directly on the beachfront, offering guests the best of both urban life and beach experience.
Located in ‘new’ Abu Dhabi, an area destined to become one of the most exciting office, retail and residential developments in the city, the hotel benefits from spectacular views of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, with easy access to Abu Dhabi City Centre and Corniche, and is in close proximity to Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Fairmont Bab Al Bahr boasts 369 elegantly appointed guestrooms, a variety of world-class restaurants, 27,000 square feet of function space, a private sandy beachfront, a Willow Stream Spa and two outdoor pools. Fairmont Bab Al Bahr will also present the first Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill outside of the UK, serving the choicest cuts of beef and one of the largest selections of wine in the city. Frankie’s Italian Restaurant and Bar has been created by the renowned UK Chef White and famed jockey Frankie Dettori.
The new properties all offer Fairmont Gold, the brand’s exclusive lifestyle offering featuring warm and personalized service with amenities such as a private reception desk and a comfortable guest lounge, where guests may enjoy an honor bar and cocktail hour canapés, as well as a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast.
Fairmont will continue on its Silk Road journey in 2010 with new properties planned for Makkah, Jaipur and the Fairmont Peace Hotel, a Shanghai landmark for over a century. Fairmont currently has more than 20 new properties in development, including London’s The Savoy, which will re-open within the next year following an extensive restoration program.
