Want to try the tequila that started it all? Order a tequila blanco or silver, also known as "plata." If your palate's a little more adventurous, try tequila añejo or, better yet, extra añejo, which is aged longest in oak casks. Vasquez is the perfect person to talk you through the aromas, tastes and varieties. Born en route to the hospital in a truck transporting agave plants – the base ingredient of tequila – some might say he has the spirit in his blood!
