Olio, the award-winning restaurant at Naples Bay Resort, has received the prestigious “Award of Excellence 2009” from Wine Spectator magazine. Jason Jones, Olio’s general manager, made the announcement.

“We are thrilled to be honored with this important award,” said Mr. Jones. “To receive this in our first year of operation was absolutely exhilarating and a tribute to the talents of our wine experts and enthusiasts here at Olio.”

The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence annually recognizes restaurants across the nation with outstanding and diverse wine lists. Wine selections presented on the list must complement a restaurant’s menu and have broad appeal to a variety of wine appreciators, with varied price points as well.

Wines by the glass must be included and the lists must offer at least 100 different selections. The visual presentation of the wine list is also taken into active consideration by the panel of judges. Restaurants that receive the Award of Excellence are honored for having “one of the most outstanding wine lists in the world,” according the Wine Spectator magazine.
