InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has appointed Mr. Tom Lord to manage Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City, one of the iconic new developments to open in Dubai Festival City earlier this year.

Tom brings over 12 years of hospitality experience to his new role, with the last five years working in senior management roles for IHG, and a degree in International Hospitality Management. His previous role between October 2007 and his current appointment this November saw Tom as Project Director of ‘IHG Global Head Office Move’. This saw him carry out the design, fit out, move and communication of the relocation of IHG head office from London Windsor to Broadwater Park, Denham. The immense project demonstrated Tom’s organisational and leadership skills, with great responsibility. Prior to this, Tom’s IHG experience had been mostly operational, as General Manager of the 158 room Holiday Inn London Brent Cross between January and October 2007, Operations Manager of Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury from November 2005 to January 2007 and Operations Manager of Holiday Inn London Sutton from April 2004 to November 2005.

Tom’s varied hospitality experience and high profile project completion have lead up to his appointment as Hotel Manager for the 316 room Crowne Plaza hotel at the heart of the mixed-use development, Dubai Festival City, the world’s first smoke free Crowne Plaza. Area General Manager Tom Meyer is more than confident that Tom is an excellent candidate for his new role, “During Tom’s experience, both working for the IHG corporate office as well as within hotel operations, he has clearly demonstrated both excellent leadership and managerial qualities. I wish him every success in ensuring Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City continues in its mission to be a ‘Great Hotel Guests Love’.

As Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City approaches its first year anniversary in operation, it has already shown itself to be a ‘Great Hotel Guests Love’, and Tom hopes under his new leadership it may only grow from strength to strength.
