Considered the most popular and sought after Big Band in the world today, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is set to get Crystal guests In the Mood for concerts and ballroom swing dancing on a 10-day Transatlantic Big Band cruise from Miami to Lisbon on May 23. With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is regarded as one of the greatest dance bands of all time.

Music and dance enthusiasts will enjoy daily live performances and evening dancing, as well musically themed lectures, swing dance lessons, trivia contests, and classic Big Band-themed films. Extra Ambassador Hosts will ensure that all guests have dance partners.

Led by famous jazz trombonist Larry O’Brien, the 19-piece Big Band will dazzle onboard audiences with their extensive repertoire of hits made famous in the 30s and 40s, including Moonlight Serenade, Tuxedo Junction and In the Mood.

“We are honored to have the Glenn Miller Orchestra as part of our 2009 music roster as classic Big Band music is riding a trend of renewed interest and popularity that spans several generations,” says Bret Bullock, Crystal’s vice president, entertainment. “On this Crystal Serenity ocean crossing, guests can take dance lessons, participate in stimulating discussions and dance the night away without skipping a beat.”

Besides a full music program, Crystal is planning an array of topical lectures and classes, as well as impressive fitness program and luxurious spa offerings.

The 10-day cruise departs from Miami and visits Hamilton, Bermuda and Ponta Delgada, Portugal before arriving in Lisbon. West Coast guests can extend their Crystal experience – and add convenience by preceding their Transatlantic cruise with a Panama Canal cruise from Los Angeles. Guests can also extend with a Mediterranean cruise, which continues on a rich itinerary to Venice.

Value Collection cruise fares begin at $3,540 per person, double occupancy. As Crystal celebrates a record 15th year voted “Best Large-Ship Cruise Line” by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler, guests can enjoy bonus savings up to $1,500 per couple, depending on accommodations selected. Other special savings include a Crystal Family Memories package and an additional 5% savings for combining two or more voyages.
