For the ninth consecutive year, Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) has been named to Fortune magazine’s “Best Companies to Work For” list. Marriott is the only multiple-brand lodging company recognized and one of just three companies of the top 100 in 2006 to have more than 100,000 employees.

Cited for associates’ tenure, with 20 percent of the workforce having more than 10 years of service and 5,000 employees with 20 years of service or more, Marriott was the only company in Maryland to be recognized. Marriott was also the largest of the five companies on the list based in the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia.

Brendan Keegan, Marriott’s executive vice president human resources, said, “We are gratified to be on Fortune’s list and continually strive to make Marriott not just a great and successful company, but a great and rewarding place to work.”

Other recent awards recognizing Marriott as a great place to work include:
