On Wednesday 17 September 2008, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London was the proud host of an event held for the Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom Fu Ying, to celebrate the closing of the Paralympics, marking the end of the 29th Olympic Games.
Guest speakers included British Olympic Association Chairman Lord Moynihan and British Olympic Association Chief Executive Simon Clegg, and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s Director of Operations for Europe, Liam Lambert.
Addressing the room, Ambassador Fu celebrated increased relations with the West and both Lord Moynihan and Clegg expressed gratitude and praise to the Beijing Organizing Committee of the 29th Olympic Games, and acknowledged the lessons learnt for Britain looking ahead to 2012.
