Fort Shelby Doubletree Guest Suites names Finn and Porter as new restaurant
As its grand opening nears, the Fort
Shelby Doubletree Guest Suites shifts its focus to food by resurrecting the
elegant steak house in downtown Detroit. Officials from the historic hotel
announced this week that Finn and Porter will be the hotel's premiere
restaurant.
"We envision this restaurant and bar to be the new place to be seen
downtown," said Shannon Dunavent, General Manager at the Fort Shelby
Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel. "With its scrumptious menu, Finn and Porter
will be the restaurant for guests to unwind after work."
Known for its jazzy, hip and inviting atmosphere, Finn and Porter
offers the freshest seafood, prime steaks and creative regional sushi. As a
part of the Hilton Restaurant Group, the successful chain has locations in
Austin, Texas, Missoula, Mont., Alexandria, Va., and Washington, DC.
Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, guests will be able to
dine on exquisite steak, sushi and seafood, including a gospel brunch on
Sundays. The savvy, sophisticated steak house will feature a high energy
round bar with signature cocktails, 22 varieties of wine by the glass and
quarterly, single malt scotch tasting.
Voted best wine by the glass and best power lunch place by the 2007
Missoula Readers Choice Awards in Montana, other great features include two
private dining areas and a Tuscan-inspired wine area that doubles as a
private dining area as well.
The new restaurant and bar is expected to create more than 40
employment opportunities for local Detroiters.
"Finn and Porter is a smaller, successful, award winning restaurant
chain that could have chosen any other state for its fifth location," noted
Dunavent. "Choosing downtown Detroit symbolizes their commitment to the
revitalization of the city."
Newly dubbed the Fort Shelby Doubletree Guest Suites, the historic Fort
Shelby Hotel is a member of the Hilton family of hotels. It is scheduled to
be completed in December 2008. The finished $82 million project will
consist of 204 luxury suites, 23,000 square feet of conference meeting
space, 63 upscale apartments and the restaurant, Finn and Porter.
