2008 I-CHRIE Annual Conference & Exposition will be held July 30-August 2, 2008, at the Renaissance Waverly in Atlanta, GA. The International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education is the global advocate of hospitality and tourism education for schools, colleges, and universities offering programs in hotel and restaurant management, food service management and culinary arts. The annual conference is both a social and an educational event that provides opportunities for attendees to network, for members to attend the annual membership meeting, acknowledgement of the annual awards winners and for I-CHRIE committees, and for special interest groups and its board of directors to meet to conduct the business meetings of the organization.
Representatives of Cornell's Center for Hospitality Research: Melissa Carlisle, publications and conference coordinator; David Sherwyn, academic director; and Carol Zhe, administrative coordinator, will be attending this event. David Stipanuk, associate professor, School of Hotel Administration, will present a session on "Sustainability and Hospitality: Past, Present and Future" at the conference.
The 2008 Lodging Conference, celebrating its 14th year, is a high-level event bringing together the top minds in hotel finance, development and operations. The conference is scheduled for September 23rd - 26th at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona.
David Sherwyn, associate professor, School of Hotel Administration, and academic director for the center, is the featured moderator during the "Meeting the Staffing Needs of the Hospitality Industry" session on September 26th. David and the other featured panelists will explore the issues of turnover and the high cost of training, benefits, and how salary can impair hotel revenues.
