New plan calls for 30 innovative spas in the next two years, centred in Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza hotels
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced plans today to open 30 Tea Tree Spas in the next two years, tripling the group’s current network of Tea Tree Spas in Australia, Greater China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
More than half of the new Tea Tree Spas will be located in Greater China, where consumer demand for a spa experience is increasing dramatically. In keeping with IHG’s commitment to listen to its customers, the new Tea Tree Spas offer treatments focused and adapted to today’s lifestyles and preferences, adding significant value to hotel stays.
Gregory Payne, spa director, IHG Asia Pacific, said “IHG spoke to 18,000 customers in all major markets worldwide, and we are using the knowledge gained to differentiate our spas and brand through innovation and improved experiences. Insights from the survey – the industry’s largest-ever hotel customer research exercise - have helped to align our services more closely to the needs of our customers. We believe this will enhance the customer experience and further underscore our leadership position in the hospitality market.”
Anticipating an increase in customer demand and rapid growth across Asia Pacific, IHG is establishing two centres of excellence in Shanghai and Beijing to train and upgrade the skill sets of our therapists.
The new Tea Tree Spas offer up to 15 treatments to cater to the varying needs of customers. A series of express treatments, where two therapies work together to provide facial, hand and foot pampering simultaneously in just 30 minutes, maximises results for business customers pressed for time. Ultimate indulgence packages such as the 150- minute Tea Tree Signature Experience combines body exfoliation and hot stone massage to provide relief to individuals and couples on holiday.
Most of the treatments are standardised across Asia Pacific to ensure consistency and to allow customers to enjoy their favourite treatments at any Tea Tree Spa in the region. Styles and signature packages that reflect and honour local traditions and cultures will also be available.
