Our last day was shorter but very busy! While Vanessa was pacing the East Asia hall, we had the pleasure of running into one of Sylvie's acquaintances, Gérard Lefebvre, founder of SA-FE (Saudi Arabia For Elites), for a chat about current developments in Saudi Arabia.

We then moved on to the large and beautiful Egyptian stand to discover the country's unique luxury offerings. Among the exhibitors, the Sonesta group caught our eye, particularly for the Sonesta Nouba Hotel Aswan. Not far from them was the Kempinski Nile Hotel Cairo, where we discussed the hotel's strengths and its butler service.

Our nuggets of the day

It was just behind this stand that we found one of our nuggets of the day: the Farah Nile Cruise. Voted 'Travellers' Choice' by TripAdvisor for three consecutive years, it is considered to be one of the most elite cruises in Egypt. With 56 deluxe cabins and two royal suites, it stands out with her modern interior and various living spaces such as the gym, the sauna or the library dedicated to Paulo Coelho. The ship's telescope allows guests to better observe the starry sky. Onboard cooking classes allow guests to recreate the aromas and tastes of Egyptian cuisine for themselves.

While we marvelled at the beauty of this cruise line, which will soon be launching its collaboration with Hermès, including the 'Jardin sur le Nil' welcome products in the bathrooms, Vanessa found her own nugget.

Slow tourism is particularly well represented in the aisles of the ITB. From river cruises to train journeys, the buyers present are spoilt for choice. A choice that extends right down to the luxury segment, with a mix of leaders and more confidential players. On the cruise side, alongside Seabourn, Explora Journeys and Silversea, Scenic, the Australian ultra-luxury cruise line, caught Vanessa’s eye. From riverboat to expedition yacht, the latest model, Scenic Eclipse II, stands out. Scheduled for delivery in 2023, it will carry two helicopters and a submersible, two of the many options available to the 200 or so passengers. On each cruise segment, the company offers a level of comfort worthy of luxury hotels.

Final meetings

In the afternoon, we continued our journey, stopping off at the Kyoto Tourist Office for a forthcoming trip - keep an eye on the Journal des Palaces - and the Belize Tourist Office to round off our day and our week in Berlin.

Meanwhile, Vanessa was off to conquer Africa. ITB is full of destinations that have come to showcase their best-sellers but also their off-the-beaten-track experiences. This is the case of Tanzania, which, as well as showcasing the Serengeti Park, is also encouraging visitors to come and discover the Saadani region, a park between beach and wilderness, 15 minutes from Zanzibar, where customers in search of discretion come to discover another face of the country.

A record show

And so ends ITB Berlin 2025, with its 100,000 participants, 87% of them international, and 1,300 senior buyers over three days.

This week, ITB also welcomed more than 200 speakers for 400 sessions divided between four stages. Topics ranged from lectures on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in travel planning to conferences on digital transformation.

The show was also a meeting place for political figures. In addition to the presence of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, 39 ministers from 34 countries and 37 ambassadors visited the show and spoke about the correlation between politics and the future of tourism. The ITB Ministers' Summit by UN Tourism brought together 35 tourism ministers from the four corners of the globe to discuss investment, sustainable development and peace in the tourism sector.

This concludes our stay in Berlin and the 59th edition of ITB Berlin! See you next year to celebrate 60 years!
