These special occasions bring teams closer together, enhance the value of the hotel industry and allow them to share an exceptional setting.
In the demanding luxury hotel industry, where time constraints can sometimes affect family life, some properties choose to open their doors to their employees' families. These days are a unique opportunity to improve the employer-employee relationship and strengthen the sense of belonging.
‘By inviting employees‘ families to discover their working environment, we show that we value our employees and care about their well-being,’ says Julien Bardet, General Manager of the Shangri-La Paris. ‘By discovering this environment, families can better understand the challenges faced by their loved ones and be more tolerant or understanding of these constraints’, continues the head of the palace.'
A time for sharing and discovery
These days give relatives the chance to discover a world that is often little-known, where they can finally appreciate the prestige and demands of these professions. At the Shangri-La Paris, families are invited to take an exclusive tour: from discovering both public and private areas, such as the sumptuous Imperial Suite, to a behind-the-scenes look at the kitchens. ‘For some, it's the first time they've been in a luxury hotel. The visit ends with a convivial snack, creating a moment of sharing and conviviality in an exceptional setting’, explains Julien Bardet.
At Fouquet's Paris, the emphasis is on family spirit. ‘ These days allow us to lift the veil and share the daily lives of our employees with their families ’, emphasises Julien Gardin, General Manager of Fouquet's Paris. He stresses the importance of these events, which he makes a point of attending personally. These days are held in small groups to encourage discussion and to enable families to familiarise themselves with the world of their loved ones. The various emblematic areas of the hotel are visited. The greedy moment, a welcome coffee with mignardises made by the pastry chef Anthony Coquereau, is conducive to confidences and other anecdotes about the employees present.
Benefits for both the property and its employees
Far from being a simple visit, these days offer many benefits to both the hotel and its employees. For those involved, it's a source of pride and motivation. ‘When families see the work of their loved ones up close, it reinforces employees‘ pride in their work and improves their self-esteem,’ says Julien Bardet.
Julien Gardin agrees: ‘These days give employees the opportunity to share the beauty of their daily lives with their families, and to remind themselves of how lucky they are to work in the world of luxury.'
These days also strengthen team spirit within the property. By offering a moment of conviviality between employees, families and their department heads, they foster a sense of community.
‘Families visiting the hotel can interact with their loved ones‘ colleagues, creating a warmer, more collaborative atmosphere,’ adds Julien Bardet. It also helps the hotel's reputation as an employer that cares about the well-being of its staff.
In addition to the relational aspect, these moments also help to promote the hospitality and luxury industries to new generations. For Julien Gardin, it's a real source of inspiration for those close to him: ‘I'm convinced that through this type of initiative, we can create vocations’, he concludes.
By encouraging people to discover the world of luxury, these family days create a more supportive atmosphere, while promoting pride and commitment in everyone involved. These are precious moments, when conviviality and recognition come together in the service of collective well-being.
