3,000 exhibitors, spread over 300 stands, were able to present their offers and the experiences they have in store for the various Meeting Incentive Congresses and Events (MICE) from all over the world.

Ho Chi Minh was present for the first time, but Beijing and Tanzania were back for the first time, while leading MICE destinations such as London, Singapore, and Orlando once again honoured the invitation given by the show's organisers. From institutions to DMCs, they were all there to mention their convention centres and their accommodation offering, but above all to highlight the experiences to be had in each destination, from cultural and artistic activities to seaside and outdoor experiences, sport, and relaxation…

The major players in the luxury hospitality industry were also able to unveil their exceptional offers for MICE, and push personalization to the limit. Marriott, Club Med, Shangri-La, Minor Hotels, Meliá, Corinthia, and Langham Hospitality were among them. Their presence was justified by the growing demands of MICE guests, whatever the size or type of event.

At the opening conference, Carina Bauer, CEO of IMEX, pointed out that MICE guests are increasingly opting for properties that are certified or have an eco-responsible approach, which is less the case for leisure guests. “Increasingly, meeting planners were selecting destinations and hotels based on their values and the way they treat the planet, the way they treat their people”, she said, based on discussions with hoteliers in the luxury segment.

Dining in period costume, a farm-to-table culinary experience and coral planting were just some of the unique experiences we were able to (re)discover on the hotel and destination stands. The deployment of new meeting spaces combining technology and aesthetics, dedicated areas and rooms that can be modulated as required, the privatization of a resort or the rebranding of spaces are just some essential services offered by hotels targeting the MICE market.

The interest shown by MICE buyers in sustainability, reconnecting with oneself and 'worktainment' are trends that we were also able to pick up on during our many discussions with exhibitors.

Ray Bloom, Chairman of IMEX, expressed his delight at the success of this year's event at the closing conference, while Carina Bauer confirmed the growing interest shown by buyers and exhibitors in sustainable development themes: “we saw these needs and desire from people to learn practical solutions around sustainability”, an interest shared with solutions based on technology and artificial intelligence.

At the close of the event, participants left with a wealth of encounters, discoveries, and ideas for satisfying an increasingly sensitive and demanding guest base.
