For the Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel, freshly reopened on the eve of the 2023 festival, this 77ᵉ edition is of particular importance, as Pierre-Louis Renou, General Manager of the Carlton Cannes, explains to Journal des Palaces.
Right from the start of the Festival in 1946, the Carlton was there, welcoming ‘the only eight journalists present for this inaugural event’. Pierre-Louis Renou recalls this heritage with pride, saying: ‘The Cannes Festival is much more than just an annual event for us here at the Carlton Cannes. It's the moment when we truly enter our peak season, welcoming visitors from all over the world within our walls.’
Preparation for the Cannes Film Festival begins ‘as soon as the previous edition closes’, to ensure ‘an exceptional experience’ for every guest. ‘One of the keys to our preparation lies in our relationships with the organizers and partners, which are maintained consistently and regularly throughout the year,’ reveals the hotel's general manager, who has been at the helm of the legendary hotel since 1ᵉʳ last April.Dedicated team and heightened securityAnother key factor in the success of each edition is the ‘dedication and expertise’ of a loyal team, ‘a significant number of staff have been present and loyal to the Carlton Cannes for many years’, stresses, indeed, Pierre-Louis Renou.
Security is also an absolute priority for the Carlton Cannes during the Cannes Festival. ‘Security is our number one guarantee’, says P.L. Renou. ‘Thanks to cutting-edge technological equipment and regular training for all our teams, we can anticipate any situation as effectively as possible’.A playground for the pressWhile the Carlton was home to the first journalists to cover the inaugural Cannes Film Festival, the hotel remains a favourite destination for the entire press, especially during Cannes' most glamorous event. This year, Paris Match is taking over a suite, transformed into an ‘exclusive and immersive space’, for interviews, dinners and themed masterclasses. More than ever, the Carlton Cannes will be the privileged theatre of the actors of the seventh art.In step with international eventsAfter a spectacular reopening in 2023, the new general manager faces a host of challenges. ‘Our objectives are ever more ambitious’, he declares. The French Riviera is host to major international events such as the Olympic Games and the Tour de France.
These are all opportunities for the Carlton to welcome visitors from all over the world and enable its teams to ‘create memorable experiences’. ‘We are determined to meet these challenges with enthusiasm and determination, doing everything in our power to maintain our position as the destination of choice on the French Riviera,’ concludes the new General Manager enthusiastically.
