Pacific Palms Resort, a full-service conference and golf resort located in Southern California, has named Brian Jago as director of sales and marketing, the company announced today.

With more than 15 years of resort industry experience, Jago will focus on establishing Pacific Palms as a full-service, four-diamond meeting destination. He will oversee a team of associates in the areas of national, group and leisure sales and marketing. He joins the company just as finishing touches are being made on a comprehensive $60 million transformation of the property. Two new outlets are scheduled to open onsite in the next few months: The Spa at Pacific Palms and Elements Grill & Bar. An executive golf pro shop premiered earlier this year and features top-brand golf gear and leisure wear from Tommy Bahama, Callaway, Nike and more.

The new Pacific Palms Resort is slated to emerge in early 2008 as a new full-service lifestyle destination. The property already boasts two championship 18-hole golf courses, more than 45,000 square feet of high-tech meeting space, 292 lavishly decorated guest rooms and suites, and the award winning Cima restaurant, which features Pacific Fusion cuisine and breathtaking views of Los Angeles County.

“Brian’s 15 years of expertise in the group market is a perfect fit for the Pacific Palms Resort sales organization. We have selected him to lead our expansion efforts in the categories of luxury and lifestyle meetings and sales. He is a valuable addition to our management team,” said Robert Nelson, vice president and managing director for Pacific Palms Resort.

For the past two years, Jago has worked as a consultant to the hospitality industry, serving clients in Florida and California. Prior to that, he served as director of sales for the award-winning Ojai Valley Inn & Spa in Ojai, Calif. He has held the same position at some of the most luxurious properties in the U.S., including Shutters on the Beach & Hotel Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica, Calif., Starwood Hotel’s Century Plaza Resort in Los Angeles, and the St. Regis Hotel Los Angeles. He was named Starwood Hotels & Resorts Sales Manager of the Year in 2000. He also worked as the associate director of sales for the five-star, five-diamond Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Fla. for six years. Jago began his hotel career at The Pointe and Registry Resort in Arizona before moving to Florida.

Jago is a graduate of Arizona State University.
