Regent to Open its First Property in France
Featuring Interior Design by World-Renowned Decorator Jacques Garcia
Regent Hotels & Resorts, a global leader in luxury hospitality, will open The Regent Bordeaux, its first property in France, later this year or in early 2008. The Regent Bordeaux, a 150-room hotel previously known as the Grand Hotel of Bordeaux, will receive an interior redesign by the famed decorator Jacques Garcia. Housed in a renovated historic palais, The Regent Bordeaux is situated in a prime location opposite the Opéra National de Bordeaux and steps away from the Golden Triangle’s legendary shopping district.
“We’re delighted to announce the addition of this luxury hotel to Regent’s European properties, which includes The Regent Berlin and The Regent Esplanade Zagreb,” says Steve Hedberg, Vice President of Operations for Regent Hotels & Resorts. “The Regent Bordeaux, housed in a beautiful palais that will be revitalized with the European chic of Jacques Garcia, is set to become a highlight of the Bordeaux region, and another important step in Regent’s expansion.”
Originally slated to be a Radisson SAS Grand Hotel, hotel owner Financière Immobilière Bordelaise (FIB) and Rezidor Hotel Group decided that Regent is the best-suited brand for the property with its premier location and unique building. The hotel is located at the heart of the Golden Triangle, which has been undergoing an extensive renovation and development over the last few years.
The Regent Bordeaux’ 128 rooms and 22 suites will be redesigned by Jacques Garcia, noted for elegant interiors. The world-renowned interior designer combines the classical style of the XVIII and XIX centuries with modern eclectic luxury. Garcia’s work includes the refurbishment of Normandy castle Chateau du Champ de Bataille, as well as the design of Jean-Georges Vongerichten's Spice Market in New York and over 24 Parisian properties including L’Hotel, Hotel Costes and the Ladurée tearoom.
Regent Bordeaux guests can sample a selection of nearby Bordelais’ best wines at L’Ocean, a fine dining restaurant featuring innovative haute cuisine with local and international flavors. The hotel will also feature the Belle Époque-style Brasserie l’Europe, the cozy Victor Bar, a prestigious wine cellar (represented by Bordeaux Magnum) and trendy nightclub Black Diamond.
The hotel will house a 3,000-square-foot Les Bains de Léa Spa, with its own line of signature cosmetics, an indoor rooftop pool and breathtaking city views. The hotel will also feature its own Fashion Avenue, a 1,000-square-foot luxury gallery designed by prominent Italian architect Ferrucio Laviani. Fashion Avenue will include such luxury jewelers as Van Cleef & Arpels, Chopard, De Grisogono, Repossi and Boucheron as well as boutiques from Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and Bottega Veneta.
