Conversion brings second Crowne Plaza to Toronto

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) [LON: IHG, NYSE:IHG (ADRs)], the world's largest hotel group by number of rooms, announced today that a 12-story 473-room Crowne Plaza hotel at the Toronto Pearson International Airport will open this month.

"Toronto has become a dynamic cosmopolitan hub known for its culture, sports, high fashion and big business," said Gina LaBarre, vice president, Brand Management, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, the Americas. "This property is conveniently located near major highways, allowing our guests easy access to everything Toronto has to offer."

The hotel is located just three kilometers from the Toronto Pearson International Airport and near the Toronto Congress Centre and the International Centre. Downtown Toronto is 20 minutes away, with such attractions as the CN Tower, Air Canada Centre and the Rogers Centre.

The Crowne Plaza Toronto Airport is owned and managed by Royal Equator Inc., under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

"We've invested over $10 million to renovate this property and upgrade to Crowne Plaza brand standards," said Paul Martin, general manager. "We're excited to be revitalizing this hotel, and we're proud to introduce our guests to the meetings amenities and services that make Crowne Plaza a great brand."

Renovations to the hotel will include a new club floor, 24 one-and two-bedroom suites, a new restaurant and an all-new fitness center. The hotel currently offers an indoor pool with whirlpool, outdoor sundecks, 24-hour complimentary shuttle service, fine dining in the Capri Restaurant and Lounge and 24-hour room service. High-speed wireless Internet access is available in the hotel's guestrooms and public spaces.

The Crowne Plaza Toronto Airport will feature the Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage program, which is available at all Crowne Plaza hotels in the Americas. Sleep Advantage encompasses the entire sleep experience, from training staff on how to create and maintain a restful environment to providing innovative products and services. Program components include new bedding, guaranteed wake-up calls, designated quiet zones, night lights, drape clips, sleep CDs, sleep tips and amenities such as eye masks, ear plugs and lavender spray.

The Crowne Plaza Toronto Airport features 12,500 sq.-ft. of exceptional meeting space, with 12 meeting rooms. Additional meeting space is planned, to include up to four new meeting rooms. Also consistent with the Crowne Plaza brand, the hotel offers a comprehensive meetings package to ensure a seamless planning process and exceptional meeting experience consisting of three key components: a Two-Hour Response Guarantee, Crowne Meetings Director and a Meetings Daily Debrief.

The property is located at 33 Carlson Court, Toronto, Ontario. The hotel was formerly a Park Plaza.
