La Quinta Inns & Suites announced the groundbreaking of its first hotel in downtown Chicago. Estimated to open in the fall of 2008, the hotel is located inside the Chicago Loop in the Financial District. Construction will begin immediately to convert the existing structure which was the former Jewish Federation Building built in 1958 and to add-on two new wings for a total of 241 guest rooms.
"We are excited to bring a La Quinta Inn & Suites to downtown Chicago," said Wayne Goldberg, president and CEO for La Quinta. "In addition to being a powerhouse business center, Chicago offers travelers world class shopping, fine art galleries, museums and theater along with unique neighborhoods rich in distinctive heritage. As we aggressively grow the La Quinta brand through franchising and corporate acquisitions, this new downtown location will become one of 12 La Quinta hotels in Chicagoland."
The La Quinta Inn & Suites - Chicago Downtown will have two meeting rooms, a business center, an indoor heated swimming pool with spa and an exercise room. Like all La Quinta hotels, breakfast and high speed Internet access are free. In addition, the hotel will feature four different room choices: standard room with two full-size beds, king room or king room with a sofa/sleeper for longer stays, and two-room suite for families or business travelers desiring extra space. All king rooms and suites will include a refrigerator and microwave oven. Other popular amenities will include a 32" flat panel television, in-room coffee maker, hair dryer and iron with ironing board.
