Carlson Hotels Worldwide today announced the appointment of Martin Rinck as President and Managing Director of Carlson Hotels Worldwide Asia Pacific, headquartered in Singapore. Rinck joins Carlson in this key role after serving the last four years as Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer of the Rezidor Hotel Group based in Brussels.
Rinck assumes his new position from Paul Kirwin, who has been serving a dual role in Asia Pacific as President of both Carlson Hotels Worldwide and overall Carlson operations including other travel, hospitality and marketing businesses. Kirwin will remain in Singapore as President of Carlson Asia Pacific.
Announcing the appointment today was Jay Witzel, president and CEO of Carlson Hotels Worldwide. "Rinck brings a wealth of hotel industry experience and a proven record of success to this position in the vital Asia Pacific region," Witzel said. "Under his leadership, business development at Rezidor Hotel Group has enjoyed a record-breaking period of growth and expansion," he added.
Rezidor is a long-term partner with Carlson Hotels Worldwide, operating four of its brands in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Carlson also owns 41.7 per cent of Rezidor shares.
Witzel noted that Asia Pacific includes many of the world's fastest growing economies and offers tremendous potential for Carlson Hotels Worldwide as the travel, tourism and hospitality industries continue to expand dramatically. "We are pleased that Rinck will be leading the Carlson Hotels Worldwide Asia Pacific team, building further on the strong foundation of success which has been established during the past five years of Kirwin's leadership," Witzel said.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, Martin holds a Masters Degree of Business Administration from Brunel University, London, and attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. His hotel industry experience has included over 10 years with Inter-Continental Hotels & Resorts in Hamburg, Paris, San Francisco, Chicago, Lisbon and London and service with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Jakarta and Surabaya, Indonesia.
