Tourism industry leaders will focus on the rapid growth of Las Vegas at the Nevada Commission on Tourism's annual Governor's Conference on Tourism Dec. 12-14, 2007, Lt. Gov. Brian K. Krolicki announced today.
Each year, the Governor's Conference on Tourism brings together prominent industry leaders to present new tactics and exchange ideas for the constant improvement of the tourism industry. The theme of this year's conference, to be held at Caesars Palace resort-casino in Las Vegas, is "Growth: Challenges & Opportunities" and will address the ways in which Nevada is expanding and how the industry is tackling the issues that accompany rapid growth.
"Nevada is experiencing immense changes, and nowhere is that more evident than in Las Vegas," Krolicki, commission chair, said. "The city is a perfect case study for how to balance the challenges of growth with the opportunities that come with it. The program at the Governor's Conference on Tourism will be applicable to any industry that faces the challenges of growth, not just tourism."
The conference alternates between Reno and Las Vegas, and this year's location, Caesars Palace, is facing growth of its own as it undergoes a $1 billion expansion that will include a new tower, a new convention center and a renovation of the existing Forum Tower.
"Not only will attendees hear presentations on how to make the most out of the challenges of growth, but they also will see it first-hand in the hotel and in the city," Commission Director Tim Maland said. "One of the highlights of the conference will be a panel of CEOs from Las Vegas hotels discussing how they have approached the explosion of growth in Southern Nevada and used it to their advantage. No matter what industry you work in, no matter what position you hold, you can learn powerful lessons in seizing opportunity from this lineup of speakers."
