ngsana Resorts and Spa is set to add the exotic flavour of Africa to its growing portfolio of properties with the debut of Angsana Riads Collection, Morocco in the third quarter of 2007.

Featuring seven different traditional Moroccan houses known as riads, Riad Aida and Riad Lydines will be the first to welcome guests, followed by Riad Si Said, Riad Blanc, Riad Bab Firdaus, Riad Dar El Farah and Riad Bagdad. The collection will feature the award-winning Angsana Spa, offering guests its signature blend of refreshing spa treatments to revitalise the senses.

An Exclusive Experience
Located just 20 minutes from Menara International Airport right in the heart of the city, six of the riads are situated in the preserved historical medina in Marrakech, within minutes’ walk of each other. The seventh, Riad Bagdad, is located in the modern city of Essaouira near the sea coast.

Furnished in traditional Morrocan style but offering the grace of contemporary Asian hospitality, Riad Aida offers three suites and three standard rooms with a tree-lined terrace dining area. Riad Lydines provides guests with a selection of seven rooms, inclusive of a built-in fireplace in two of the rooms and a relaxing jet pool in one of the others. The riad also features a rooftop dining area with a fireplace, a cosy library and a patio with a pool.

A first for Angsana Resorts & Spa, Angsana Riads will be introducing exclusive riad hosts. Each riad is assigned a dedicated resident host who will attend to guests’ needs, personalising experiences ranging from sightseeing, dining and traditional hamman spa. To offer guests the authentic Morrocan cultural dining experience from preparation to degustation, guests may opt to join in the special day trips to the local market to select the fresh ingredients for their meals. Alternatively, they may also choose from a choice of international and local delights from the fresh produce bought daily.

A Memorable Destination
Guests looking for a magical time in Marrakech, also known as “Red City of Al Hamra” will be delighted to discover attractions such as Valley of the Ourika River set in the Atlas Mountains and Valley of The Draa River located in the south, near the Sahara desert.

In the heart of Marrakech is Djemma el Fina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring a large central square in medina. Guests will be captivated by the hustle and bustle of the market scene complete with dancing bears, snake charmers, musicians, acrobats and storytellers. Guests may also make their way to the north of Djemma el Fina, where they will find the popular Souqs or markets that sell everything from chickens to high-quality crafts along narrow alleyways.

Riad Bagdad is one of the only riads in the Collection that is located in the nearby historical city of Essaouira that offers a fortified medina and is famous for its fishing and sailing harbour activities.
