HobNob with New York’s Most Notable Names at The Westin New York at Times Square… Sort Of Hotel Partners with Madame Tussauds For “Unwind With A New Yorker,” A Westin Evening RitualSM
Guests can get up close and personal with some of The Big Apple’s most recognizable and famous faces this summer at The Westin New York at Times Square. At the hotel’s Bar 10, visitors can rub elbows with the likes of baseball legend Joe Namath, talk show host Regis Philbin, gossip queen Joan Rivers, TODAY weather guru Al Roker and more. Dubbed “Unwind With A New Yorker,” the hotel has partnered with Madame Tussauds New York to feature rotating celebrity wax figures in Bar 10, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., weekdays through August 3, 2007.
These statuesque celebs will have bar-goers heads turning and are sure to cause many a double take, as the similarities between the wax figures and the actual A-listers are uncanny. While real estate mogul Donald Trump may not be able to say “you’re fired!”, and presidential-hopeful Rudy Giuliani will be keeping campaign secrets quiet, these notable names will be on-hand for memorable photographs to document “celebrity sightings” at the award-winning New York hotel. The Unwind experience at Bar 10 also includes weekly seasonal food offerings and specialty drinks.
“Unwind With A New Yorker” is part of the brand’s signature social experience, Unwind… A Westin Evening RitualSM. The recently launched program is rolling-out across all 129 Westin Hotels & Resorts worldwide and each property’s unique Unwind ritual will be tailored to the local environment. Designed to infuse “celebrity” energy into the hotel, The Westin New York at Times Square Unwind ritual transforms Bar 10 into a gathering spot, encouraging guests to socialize and helping to combat the loneliness many travelers sometimes experience on the road. In fact, a recent study by Westin Hotels & Resorts found that that 34% of frequent travelers feel lonely away from home.
In order to set the stage for its signature evening rituals, the lobby and Bar 10 evolve from day to evening through a variety of subtle sensory cues—everything from music, to scent, to lighting. Warm, natural lighting is dimmed at the start of the evening while scented candles are lit and carefully placed around. Westin Music moves sounds from the background to the foreground with musical cues and selections that change from day to night.
