Borgata Appoints Two Key Executives To Senior Management Team

Jay B Rosenthal Named Vice President of Hospitality
Nicolas Kurban Announced as Vice President of Food and Beverage

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, a joint venture of Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) and MGM MIRAGE (NYSE: MGM), today announced the appointment of two executives to Borgata’s senior management team. Jay B Rosenthal has been named Vice President of Hospitality and Nicolas Kurban has been named Vice President of Food and Beverage for Borgata.

Rosenthal will oversee Borgata’s hospitality division, including all hotel operations such as front desk services, transportation, premium services, concierge, butler services, housekeeping, wardrobe, engineering, and hotel sales; Spa Toccare including the Spa, Salon, and Barbershop; the Pool and Gardens; and Borgata’s 12 retail shops.

Kurban will be responsible for all food and beverage operations at the casino-hotel, including Borgata’s six fine-dining restaurants – Bobby Flay Steak, Wolfgang Puck American Grille, SEABLUE: A Michael Mina Restaurant, Specchio, Ombra, and Old Homestead Steakhouse; six casual dining options including the Borgata Buffet, Metropolitan café, N.O.W (Noodles of the World), and Bread + Butter; Borgata’s bars and nightclubs including Gypsy Bar, MIXX, B Bar and mur.mur; and the property’s 40,000 bottle wine program.


Rosenthal and Kurban join recently announced executives Dave Coskey, Vice President of Marketing for Borgata, and Drew Schlesinger, Vice President and General Manager of The Water Club, an 800-room signature hotel by Borgata to open in 2008, as the latest additions to Borgata’s senior management team.

Commenting on the recent appointments, Larry Mullin, President and Chief Operating Officer for Borgata, said, “I am pleased to announce the additions of Jay Rosenthal and Nicolas Kurban to our executive management team. Both bring to us a wealth of experience in their respective fields. I am confident that with their added expertise, Borgata is further positioned for continued growth and long-term success.”

Jay B Rosenthal, Vice President of Hospitality for Borgata
Rosenthal formerly served as Executive Vice President of The Harp Group, focusing on hospitality and retail development, and acquisitions for brands such as Westin, Marriott and InterContinental. Prior to joining The Harp Group, he held numerous positions with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc., most recently as Area Managing Director for W Chicago, and General Manager of the W San Francisco. Rosenthal has held a variety of key management positions with hotel brands such as Doubletree, Hyatt, and Hilton Hotels in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia.

Nicolas Kurban, Vice President of Food and Beverage for Borgata
Prior to joining Borgata, Kurban held the position of Director of Fine Dining for Wynn Las Vegas Casino and Resort, responsible for Wynn Las Vegas’ nine fine dining restaurants including SW Steakhouse, Daniel Boulud Brasserie, Bartolotta Ristorant de Mare, Corsa Italian Cucina, Alex, The Country Club Grill, Tableau, and Okada. In 2006, he founded Kurban and Associates, a hospitality consulting firm, working on projects such as Geoffrey Zakarian’s Country Restaurant at the Carlton Hotel in New York City and the Vintage Inn and Villagio Inn and Spa in Napa Valley, CA. He has served as Director of Operations and Development for Chef Thomas Keller’s Restaurant Group, responsible for all of Chef Keller’s casual restaurants on the West Coast, and prior to that, Director of Operations for Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group in Las Vegas.

Dave Coskey, Vice President of Marketing for Borgata
Coskey brings over twenty years of senior management experience in the fields of marketing, advertising, and public relations in both the Philadelphia and Atlantic City markets. Most recently, he served as President of Dave Coskey Associates, an independent marketing and consulting firm with clients throughout the Northeast. Prior to launching Dave Coskey Associates, he served as President of the Teams Marketing and Communications Group for Comcast Spectacor, LLC, where he was responsible for the marketing, communications and community relations efforts for sports teams Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers, and prior to that, he held the position of Executive Vice President for 76ers basketball team, while serving on The National Basketball Association Board of Governors.

Drew Schlesinger, Vice President/General Manager for The Water Club at Borgata
Schlesinger most recently served as the Director of Operations and General Manager of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants in New York City and Miami, responsible for the launch of Kimpton’s first hotel in New York City, a four-star, 205-room luxury hotel. Prior to joining Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, he held the General Manager position at hotels such as The Mondrian in Los Angeles, CA (Morgans Hotel Group) and the Inter-continental Central Park South and the Paramount Hotel Manhattan (Intercontinental Hotels Group) in New York City.
