An outdoor oasis with one of the city’s few in-ground hotel pools boasts a bar and a new outpost of a locally renowned food truck.
And a golden toilet in a penthouse suite pays homage to Elvis, who frequented the historic building in the 1980s.In the heart of the East Bank, an on-the-rise waterfront district just east of the Cumberland River, the new Drift Nashville channels the city’s creative energy.
From Britt Soler’s custom D-shaped wooden handles on the entrance doors to plaster lighting sculptures by Thomas Hans of Jamas Creative over the welcome desk to the handmade tiles by Red Rock Tileworks in the guestrooms, café, and lobby bar, every touch has the imprints of a local maker.
“With Drift Nashville, we wanted to integrate into our community by showcasing and supporting our local artists and makers to create a truly unique and thoughtful space,” says Alexis Soler, a Nashville entrepreneur and designer who also developed the hotel’s food and beverage concept and is one of the Originals along with TMC Hospitality’s founder Philip Bates.
“Drift Nashville highlights the talents of the people who make our city special. It is through the art, design, food and drink, and hospitality that sets the tone for travelers to begin their exploration of our city.”
Sited in a reinvigorated inn built around 1965, Drift Nashville marks the fourth location for the Drift brand, following locations in San Jose del Cabo, Santa Barbara, and Palm Springs.
As with the first three hotels, the parent group TMC Hospitality enlisted a local studio, Dryden, to envision both the architecture and interiors of its Nashville outpost.
The result is a unique balance of the building’s original midcentury architecture with Drift’s signature Baja flair.
The hotel façade’s existing clean lines are now accentuated in white, while a deep sea-green accents the lower portion, as if the building has been dipped in paint. Inside, warm colors like rust red and forest green complement earthy materials and textures of the American Southwest and Mexico, including leather, terrazzo, wood, and terracotta, while on the walls guests will encounter custom artworks.
Having sourced materials and décor from nearby studios and artists, including Sick Dye, Relic Home, Ferrin Ironworks, Juliana Morgan Álvarez of Father Wolf, and Michael McCollum, the property exudes both Drift and Dryden’s commitment to making meaningful human places that mindfully engage local resources.
Local touches continue to unfold throughout the 87 accommodations, including 40 suites with one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts—the ideal setups for group and family getaways.
Every room features custom walnut beds by Lucid Woodworks, bespoke Drift-brand bath amenities, bathrooms engulfed in stunning handcrafted tiles by the local studio Red Rock Tileworks, and bathrobes handmade in Oaxaca.
The suites also provide ample space to unwind or enjoy a snack or pre-dinner cocktail, designed with kitchenettes, and dining and lounge areas, as well as multiple bathrooms.
On the seventh floor, the crowning jewel awaits: a 1,800-square-foot penthouse suite that is equipped with not only three king-size beds and sweeping city views but also a primary bathroom with a standalone soaking tub and a powder room with a golden toilet—an homage to Elvis, a frequent guest of the former inn in the 1980s.
Offering the perfect spots for a morning coffee, poolside hang, or evening sundowner are three onsite food and beverage outlets conceived by Soler.
The casual Dawn Café serves a range of craft coffee-based drinks made with locally roasted beans alongside grab-and-go items, including pastries, yogurt with candied pistachios, and pan con tomate.
Meanwhile, the afternoon-to-evening hangout The Sun Room boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and a signature terrazzo-flecked bar, also by Red Tock Tileworks.
Here, drinks lead the way, with skilled bartenders crafting organic soda-based cocktails with house-made infusions and fresh ingredients like yuzu, passionfruit, and a variety of peppers, complemented by a tapas-style menu.
Weekly programming activates these spaces with events including live music sessions and the Thursdays at Drift party.
Poolside at Drift will host Sunday pool parties as well as offer all-day everyday al-fresco imbibing with communal tables, terracotta two-tops, towering fireplaces, and intimate cabanas surrounding one of the city’s very first in-ground hotel pools.
The resort-like oasis is set to be a destination for visitors and locals alike; a place where everyone can enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine from a new outpost of the locally renowned Alebrije food truck as well as a seasonal menu of snacks and cocktails while basking in the soothing sounds of the city beyond.

Drift Nashville is located in the East Bank, a developing waterfront neighborhood east of the Cumberland River, which connects East Nashville, Germantown, and Downtown Nashville.
The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the Nashville International Airport and within walking distance of Nissan Stadium. Branching out to other neighborhoods, Alexis Soler’s taste-making ingenuity can also be experienced at Old Glory, a three-story bar in the boiler room of a former Whiteway Cleaners from the 1930s, and the recently opened Golden Pony, a retro-inspired cocktail bar located in the buzzy Highland Yards complex.
