196+ forum Munich launch the “Hospitality UPGRADE Award” competition for innovative start-ups, together with Hospitality Pioneers and GIRA.
The prize, which is being offered for the eighth time this year, will be awarded to the company winning the start-up pitch on 9 October, which will take place as part of the 196+ forum Munich Conference at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof.
The competition is looking for innovative start-ups making a contribution to the entire value chain by offering forward-looking solutions, from hotel development to hotel operation, including the guest experience.
Start-ups are eligible to take part which were founded within the past five years that can demonstrate a scalable business model, and whose market activities are innovative and growth orientated.
Start-ups can submit applications at https://hospitalitypioneers.de/programm/hospitality-upgrade-award-2024 up to 16 August. Participation is free of charge.
Christian Fiedler, Managing Director of Hospitality Pioneers, and spokesperson of the jury: “Given that the hospitality industry is struggling with a multiplicity of complex problems such as changing consumer preferences, radical technological changes and global crises, it is becoming increasingly evident that traditional approaches are no longer enough. The sector needs a paradigm shift if it is to weather the stormy times ahead and emerge stronger. This requires a new way of thinking, along with new technologies.”
The UPGRADE advisory board nominates the five finalists on a shortlist, and these finalists will pitch to an expert jury made up of stakeholders from the hotel and property industry on the 196+ forum Munich conference stage.
All the finalists will get to attend the entire programme, including the gala evening, as well as a speed dating event attended by ten experts from the hotel and property industry.
They will also benefit from a place in the exhibitor area. The PKF hospitality group will be inviting all the finalists to network with industry representatives in the Seehaus restaurant in Munich’s English Garden on the evening before, on 8 October. Hospitality Pioneers will publish podcasts with all five finalists.
The winner of the “Hospitality UPGRADE Award” will also be given a one-year membership of the Arbeitskreis Hotelimmobilien, providing access to 400 market players; they will receive an invitation to attend next year’s 196+ forum Munich 2025, including the gala dinner and stand space in the exhibitor area, and will also be invited to attend a 196+ forum roundtable event of their choice.
They will furthermore be able to attend the 196+ forum Vienna free of charge.
