Idyll and harmony of design have, since the opening, been central to the fundamental values of the Hotel.
The owners have consistently taken diligent care when investing in the finest materials and furnishings to create a luxurious and inspiring environment, as well as supporting Hungarian contemporary art by exhibiting it at the Hotel and collecting it for its corporate collection.
Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest offers not just exquisite space but a sophisticated experience.
Established in 1992, the Corvinus Art Collection now numbers some 1,500 pieces of Hungarian artwork, some of which are exhibited in the public areas while others adorn the Hotel’s rooms and suites.
Focussed on modern Hungarian art, the Gallery on the Promenade organises two or three exhibitions annually.
As part of its commitment to the Hungarian art scene, Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest maintains partnerships with The Hungarian Palace of Arts (MÜPA), The State Opera, The National Philharmonics and The Budapest Festival Orchestra. In its mission to support local talent in music, The Living Room hosts Kempinski Concertini on Saturday afternoons, featuring young Hungarian musicians.
Exploring contemporary Hungarian art even further, Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest commissioned leading writers to create stories inspired by the Hotel’s newly redesigned Corvinus Art Collection Suites.
Five authors, Imre Bartók, Rita Halász, Anna Mécs, Anna Terék and Benedek Totth, were invited to stay overnight and absorb the individual decor of the rooms as well as the unique artwork there, and they each wrote a short story.
The result of this extraordinary creative process is now available in Storytelling Suites, to relay the Kempinski Corvinus experience in an artistic way.
“This has always been art’s aim and essence: to elevate the viewer from their everyday into the world created by the artist; to be transported into an imaginary reality, which has the power to change our perception. This is the message behind the five Corvinus Art Collection Suites - the same experience and journey presented in these five short stories written for us by some of the best contemporary authors in Hungarian literature.” Richárd Kosinsky, art historian, editor of the publication.
