Steigenberger Icon Wiltcher’s in Brussels, the Grande Dame of the Belgian hotel sector, has achieved a further luxury benchmark after officially being named as a “Five Star Superior Hotel”. This internationally recognised status was conferred by HOTREC, the umbrella association representing hotels, restaurants, and cafés in Europe, as part of the “Hotelstars” award scheme. The hotel scored impressively across all 270 criteria used for the categorisation and has thus cemented its place in the high-end European market.
Deutsche Hospitality instigated a separate brand for its distinguished Grand Hotels at the beginning of April. Steigenberger Wiltcher’s is one of the founding members of the Steigenberger Icons alongside the Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg, the Frankfurter Hof, the Parkhotel Düsseldorf, the Grandhotel Handelshof Leipzig and the Grandhotel Belvédère Davos. “This special distinction for Steigenberger Wiltcher’s represents a considerable success for Michel Cottray and his entire team,” said Marcus Bernhardt, CEO of Deutsche Hospitality. “It also places an initial and impressive spotlight on the whole of the Steigenberger Icons brand.”
The “Hotelstars Union” was founded in 2009 by the national hotel associations from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland. The programme operates under the auspices of HOTREC – Hospitality Europe. The Hotelstars Union bases its judgements on a joint catalogue of criteria for hotel classification with the aim of providing both guests and hoteliers with greater transparency and certainty.
“This Hotelstars classification enjoys both European and international recognition,” stated Michel Cottray, General Manager of Steigenberger Wiltcher’s, Brussels. “It will act as a guideline for our clientèle from all over the world. Such an accolade and mark of esteem for the services we are able to deliver send out a fabulous signal to our guests and staff alike, especially in these challenging times. We are committed hoteliers and are looking forward to reopening our doors to everyone very soon."
Steigenberger Wiltcher’s is located at the heart of the Belgian capital. It offers 267 guest rooms and suites as well as boasting various restaurants and bars and Brussels most elegant Conference Centre. The hotel’s Aspria Spa is considered to be one of the city’s most exclusive clubs.
