A weekly nasal swab or saliva specimen test will be made available to around 3,500 staff who work for the group’s brands that are represented in Germany – Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts, MAXX by Steigenberger, Jaz in the City and IntercityHotel. Hotel guests will be able to acquire the tests at the reception if they wish. All tests used will meet the standards of and will have been certified by the Paul-Ehrlich-Institute.

“We have been continuously developing our hygiene and safety concepts since the beginning of the pandemic,” stated Marcus Bernhardt, CEO of Deutsche Hospitality. “We have arranged for independent checks and have made improvements and adjustments. The issue regarding the rapid tests was to examine whether and how quickly we could make them available to our guests and employees at the hotels. Now that the tests have been certified by the Paul-Ehrlich-Institute, we are in a position to roll out our testing strategy, starting with Germany. The aim is to test every member of staff at the hotels once a week. There will be no cost to our colleagues, and both they and the guests will be provided with maximum protection and transparency.”

Deutsche Hospitality currently operates around 75 hotels in Germany. Its worldwide portfolio comprises about 160 hotels across three continents. At the start of the pandemic, the group implemented a concept entitled “Safe Travels by Deutsche Hospitality”. This consisted of a comprehensive package of measures drawn up in conjunction with independent institutes and set new benchmarks for the endeavours being undertaken to contain and combat the virus.

Deutsche Hospitality brings together five separate hotel brands under a single umbrella. Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts has 60 hotels housed in historic traditional buildings and lively city residences and also offers health and beauty oases set at the very heart of nature. MAXX by Steigenberger is a new and charismatic concept which places the focus on the essential in accordance with its motto “MAXXimize your stay”. Jaz in the City branded hotels reflect metropolitan lifestyle and draw upon the local music and cultural scene. IntercityHotel offers more than 40 upper mid-range urban hotels, all of which are located within easy walking distance of railway stations or airports. And Zleep Hotels – a well-known and successful hotel brand in Scandinavia which offer service and design at a great rate for the many. The portfolio of Deutsche Hospitality currently includes almost 160 hotels on three continents 40 of which are in the pipeline.
