Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) announced today the grand opening of the New Orleans Marriott Metairie at Lakeway. The 220-room hotel is the first full-service Marriott hotel in the Metairie/Jefferson Parrish area of New Orleans and is located at 3838 N. Causeway Blvd. The property is owned and managed by the Pyramid Hotel Group based out of Boston, Mass.

"Jefferson Parrish has quickly rebounded over the last year and is an area ripe for growth and development," said Tico Bevier, CHA, vice president, managing director of Pyramid Hotel Group. "By launching this hotel in the heart of Metairie's business district, we are addressing a growing segment of business travelers who use Jefferson as their base of operations. Our location, near the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway and Interstate 10, makes it easily accessible for corporate guests and meeting attendees, whether flying or driving."

Ideally located in the Lakeway Office Tower and on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, guests of the hotel will enjoy easy access to many of New Orleans' main attractions such as the famed, historic French Quarter and the New Orleans central business district, both of which are only eight miles away from the hotel. Louis Armstrong International Airport is also only eight miles away.

Guest rooms will feature Marriott's Revive(R) bedding, with plush mattresses, soft sheets, more pillows, and a new, fresh, white look. The bedspread consists of a down comforter nestled inside a sheeted duvet, which will be freshly laundered for each new guest. Mattresses are thick and comfortable, and the 300-thread-count, cotton-rich, white top and fitted bottom sheets are among the finest and softest sheets of any global hotel chain. The stylized bedding is accented with euro shams, a decorative bed scarf and a bolster.

The property is one of the first hotels in the New Orleans area to offer the newest generation of Marriott guest rooms. All rooms come equipped with a 32-inch hi-def plasma screen television and Marriott's newly premiered plug-in panel that provides guests with the ability to multi-task through versatile multimedia usage. For example, the screen can be split so guests can watch TV while checking e-mail or researching on the Internet from their own laptop. Or, they can relieve stress playing a video game while listening to their iPod at the same time. With the new HDTV, the hotel is offering over 64 television channels. These include the popular NFL Network and the Science Channel, as well as great family choices, such as Disney, HBO Kids and the Cartoon Network.

Ideal for business and social occasions, the hotel offers 6,500 square feet of flexible meeting space. The 2,500-square-foot Jefferson Ballroom is the largest of the property's three meeting rooms and all feature both wired and wireless high-speed Internet access. A variety of other business services are available to meet guests' needs.

For dining and entertainment, the hotel features Bistro 38 by Dominique, a restaurant serving country French cuisine for dinner. The restaurant was created by Dominique Macquet, the critically acclaimed chef of Dominique's, a fine dining restaurant in the French Quarter. For breakfast and lunch, the restaurant will feature an elaborate buffet supported by an a la carte menu with local Louisianan cuisine, as well as items from the health-conscious "Fit For You" program. Guests can also enjoy signature cocktails and light fare at Bar 38 or grab a cup of freshly brewed Starbucks coffee, pastries, or a Panini at Perks. Room service is also available.
