Carlson Hotels Worldwide today announced that the company has added nine new locations to its global portfolio of brands from January through February 2007. The new hotels include two Radisson SAS properties in Kazakhstan and Norway; two Radisson Hotels & Resorts(R) properties in California and Arizona; a new spa hotel in Chile developed by Radisson Hotels Latin America; two Park Inn(R) hotels in Michigan and Russia; and two Park Plaza(R) Hotels & Resorts properties in India and China. Carlson Hotels Worldwide now includes a total of 945 locations with nearly 146,000 rooms in 71 countries. Carlson hotel brands also include Regent Hotels & Resorts.
"These new hotels and resorts in North America, Europe, Asia and South America are indicative of our efforts to grow our brands globally," said Bill Sipple, corporate vice president of development for Carlson Hotels Worldwide. "We continue to add new hotels worldwide, offering our customers new choices for their business and leisure needs."
Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts
The two newest hotels to join the Radisson SAS brand are the 181-room Radisson SAS Hotel Astana in Kazakhstan, and the Radisson SAS Hotel, Fredrikstad in Norway. Both hotels are managed by Rezidor.
The newly constructed hotel in Kazakhstan is part of a large, mixed-use complex that includes a department store and restaurants, an office tower and residential apartments, as well as art galleries and a world-class wellness and spa center. The 155-room hotel in Fredrikstad is part of the "new breed" generation of Radisson SAS -- a contemporary hotel with modern design and unique service concepts. The guestrooms at the hotel feature Ocean and Urban themes, black granite floors and fiber optic lighting, and Norway's longest open fireplace measuring nearly 14 feet in length. It is Rezidor's 19th Radisson SAS Hotel in Norway.
Rezidor SAS also has several properties that have been expanded. The Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Residence & Spa in Bahrain added 121 new rooms to the existing 246 rooms, creating a new residence block; and the Radisson SAS Airport Hotel, Oslo added 153 rooms and now offers over 500 rooms. The Radisson SAS Hotel, Dubai Media City opened their second tower with an additional 125 rooms to now offer a total of 376 rooms.
Radisson Hotels & Resorts
The Radisson Hotel Phoenix-Chandler in Arizona is managed by Carlson and is owned by Hospitality Property Trust. Within minutes of the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and area attractions like Firebird International Raceway and Arizona State University's Sun Devil Stadium, guests of the 159-room hotel can enjoy the charm of the Old West, outdoor sports and world-class golf. The property also offers flexible meeting space, complete banquet services and a business center.
Also, located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains between Orange and Los Angeles counties, the Radisson Suites Hotel Covina is just 15 minutes east of the Ontario International Airport. This beautiful landscaped hotel offers 259 spacious one-bedroom suites in a tropical setting. All suites feature a private bedroom with one king or two double beds and a separate living room with a sofa sleeper, and well-lit dining/work area. Local attractions include tennis and golf courses, Raging Waters, SpeedZone, Fairplex and Irwindale Speedway. This hotel is owned by Adrian Valencia.
Radisson Hotels Latin America
Located in the Chilean city of Con Con on the Pacific coast north of Vina del Mar, the new Radisson Acqua Hotel & Spa is an exclusive 50-room boutique hotel offering panoramic ocean views from every guestroom and Thalassotherapy spa services. In addition to these relaxing services, which include traditional seaweed baths, seaweed body wraps, hydrotherapy, massage, and marine-based facials, the hotel also features two on-site restaurants, a lounge area and 24-hour room service. The hotel's staff is multilingual, and foreign guests are tax exempt. To date, Radisson's global portfolio includes 400 hotels with 89,359 guestrooms.
Park Inn
In January, the Park Inn brand opened its second location in St. Petersburg, Russia -- the Park Inn Pribaltiyskaya, and its newest U.S. hotel -- the Park Inn Sault Sainte Marie in Michigan. The addition of these two properties increases the Park Inn portfolio to 84 hotels and 13,565 guestrooms worldwide.
The Park Inn Pribaltiyskaya is in a prime location next to the main exhibition center in St. Petersburg called Lenexpo, and is on the edge of the Gulf of Finland. The hotel has 1,200 guestrooms and the Waterville Aqua Park featuring several pools, aqua-tube slides, a lazy river and Jacuzzis.
In Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the new 59-room Park Inn Sault Sainte Marie is within close proximity to the area's many seasonal attractions; it is owned by Tom Moyle. During the winter months, guests of the Park Inn can enjoy more than 1,000 miles of manicured snowmobile trails accessible from area parks.
Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts
Two new hotels joined the Park Plaza brand in January: the new 45-room Park Plaza Jodhpur in India and the 394-room Park Plaza Beijing Science Park in China.
The hotel in Jodhpur is a state-of-the-art business hotel located in the heart of the city and within five-minutes of the airport and local markets. The new property in China is owned by a Beijing-based company called Shoukai, and is located near world-famous sites such as The Great Wall of China and the Summer Palace. These additions bring the brand's global property count to 44 with 7,477 guestrooms.
