This is the first luxury hot spring resort established by Hoshino Resorts in Taiwan, utilizing the abundance of hot spring water and the topography of a valley surrounded by mountains. This will also be the second overseas facility of the HOSHINOYA Brand, following HOSHINOYA Bali (Ubud, Bali Island, Indonesia).

Guguan’s Rich Environment

Guguan is a hot spring region located at the foot of the Taiwan Central Mountain Range, which consists of mountains at a height of about 3000 meters. A hot spring flows out in the valley created by the Dajia River, which runs through the central part of Taiwan, and lively nature remains there even now. To enjoy this incredible landscape, there is a 1300-meter-long promenade behind HOSHINOYA Guguan, where guests can enjoy a walk in an environment removed from the bustle of the city.

Features of HOSHINOYA Guguan

HOSHINOYA Guguan features a design heavily inspired by the abundantly flowing natural spring waters. Each room features its own semi-open-air bath, where guests can enjoy the hot spring water directly from the natural source at any time. The public spaces are also seamlessly incorporated into the rich nature of Taichung, whether at reception, the lush water garden, or innovative open-air bath. The indoor bath is modeled after Japanese onsen hot springs, so guests can savor a broad space where they truly feel the nature of Guguan at the same time they experience Hoshino Resorts’ signature Japanese omotenashihospitality. Meals at HOSHINOYA Guguan similarly fuses traditional Japanese culinary techniques with local Taiwanese ingredients for an exceptional dining experience.

Hoshino Resorts

Founded in 1904 as a forestry business in Karuizawa, in the Japanese Alps, it opened its first hot spring resort in 1914. Rebranded by Yoshiharu Hoshino in 1995 as Hoshino Resorts, it has expanded across Japan and currently operates 38 properties around Japan and abroad.
