Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, with the highest rooms and suites in Chicago, introduces newly renovated one-bedroom suites, ranging from 725 square feet (67 square metres) to 950 square feet (88 square metres).

Led by design group BAMO, the renovation infuses residentially-inspired palettes and décor with a Chicago-centric sophistication. BAMO Principal Michael Booth explained, “The Hotel desired a refreshed point of view, a personality that speaks to Chicago while addressing the modern Four Seasons traveller and luxury local market.”

Venturing inside, guests are greeted by a dramatic entry of charcoal and grey hand painted wallpaper, juxtaposed by an interior architectural shell of warm white walls, light stone, luxurious wool carpet and blonde wood floors. A calm materials palette features beige, grey, sage, celadon, buttery yellow and soft blues.

The panoramic views of Chicago and Lake Michigan have been dramatically highlighted by pulling drapes back to the outside of the physical window openings, and strategically placed mirrors further heighten these breath taking views.

“These refreshed suites offer an inviting perch from which to appreciate Chicago’s awe-inspiring architecture,” commented Tim Churchmack, the Hotel’s Director of Rooms.

Throughout the suites, custom furnishings of glass, lacquer and natural woods are complemented by brass detailing. Selected pieces such as the bed and accompanying side tables provide a common thread with the recent guest room renovation, but these pieces are defined with new colours, finishes and enhanced details.

The many variations in room type and placement on each floor allowed the design team to create uniquely personalised experiences in every suite. Furnishings were designed and arranged with versatility in mind, with opportunities for live, work or play that accommodate the distinctive needs of the Four Seasons guest. Comfortable seating, including long sweeping sofas upholstered in custom Italian fabric, are arranged for relaxing, one-on-one engagement or entertaining. Gracious dining tables with flanking wings allow for dining, reading or working as desired.

Artwork selected by Chicago-based consultant Shashi Caudill creates the sense of an art collection that has been gathered over time with a personalised sensitivity. This assemblage of photography, drawings and abstract expressionism is an uplifting reflection of the spirit of these fresh new rooms.
