The RIU Hotels & Resorts chain has started the year by re-opening the Riu Tikida Palmeraie hotel, located just six kilometres from the historic centre of Marrakech. The hotel closed last November for complete renovation, including overhauling the rooms and the communal areas.
The hotel, which opened in 2009, is nestled among exotic gardens and it has an all-inclusive service, free Wi-Fi and fun entertainment programmes. This radical renovation has visually opened up the communal areas, creating a more spacious and light-filled lobby, where abundant plants create a magnificent optical effect and recreate a garden inside the hotel itself. The restaurants and bars have been renovated too, with a fresh and updated style in their decoration and layout. The culinary offerings will continue to provide the finest dishes in a buffet of international cuisine, with themed nights, to complement the two restaurants, “El Nakheel”, specialising in Moroccan cuisine, and the Italian, “La Trattoria”.
The 392 rooms that make up the hotel have also been completely renovated. The bathtubs have been removed and replaced with showers, and the floors and decoration have also been replaced. Earth and wood tones predominate, creating a warm, exotic atmosphere that is so typical of this destination.
The outside areas are one of the hotel’s most iconic features, with a magnificent pool, reminiscent of an oasis in the desert itself, and these areas have also been renovated in line with the hotel’s new style, along with the indoor pool. What’s more, Riu Tikida Palmeraie offers entertainment for all the family: those with artistic flair can have fun at the RiuArt workshop, sporty ones can enjoy the gym and the RiuFit programme, and the little ones can have a whale of a time at the park, the children’s pool and RiuLand Kid’s Club. The hotel also has a wellbeing centre so you can go home from your holiday feeling totally rejuvenated.
Riu Tikida Palmeraie is one of five hotels that RIU has in Morocco. Another three are located in the Agadir region, and Riu Tikida Garden, which is also in Marrakech, is scheduled for renovation in the 2019/2020 season. Furthermore, Riu Palace Taghazout is scheduled to open this August, and it will be the company’s first hotel in this Moroccan destination.
In this way, RIU is continuing in its strong commitment to the complete renovation of its portfolio of hotels, adapting to its guests’ needs and championing design and innovation in its far-reaching renovation plans. About RIU Hotels & Resorts:The international RIU chain was founded in Mallorca by the Riu family in 1953 as a small holiday firm and is still owned by the family's third generation.
