Beyond Horizons opens in the Maldives at two neighbouring properties, Anantara Dhigu and Anantara Veli, with a short film inviting viewers to join marine biologist, Andrew Brucknell as he describes the Holistic Approach to Reef Protection (HARP) programme.
After a dramatic and damaging bleaching event swept the corals of the Maldives in 2015, the teams at Anantara Dhigu and Anantara Veli combined forces with Coral Reef Conservation, Protection & Restoration (CPR) and its experts to create the HARP programme, with a view to creating a solution that could reverse the impact of coral bleaching. The video showcases efforts to restore colour and health to these vital reefs, details the success the team has had so far and explains the ways Anantara guests play a crucial role in the project’s ongoing progress.
“Making an ongoing difference drives everything we do. With sustainable tourism at the beating heart of all our hotels, we essentially offer a five-star experience backed up by scientific research to ensure we do the right thing for the environment,” explains John Roberts, Group Director of Sustainability and Conservation for Anantara Hotels. “Beyond Horizons” is a vehicle allowing us to bring these stories to a wider audience and hopefully to encourage them to join us and our guests by taking part in these worthy intiatives.”
Transporting viewers to some of the world’s most stunning yet fragile destinations, “Beyond Horizons” is an honest gaze into the environmental challenges faced by local communities as well as an invitation to start a dialogue about the urgent need to act as a united front to tackle them.
Shot on location, each of the videos in the Beyond Horizons series are narrated by Anantara CSR champions who share stories of progressive initiatives carried out at properties around the world through Anantara led charitable organisations such as the Thai based Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation.
