American Express (NYSE: AXP) and Marriott International, Inc. today announced that the much-anticipated, new Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Luxury Card is now available. Eligible new Card Members who apply for the Card today through October 31, 2018 can receive a rich welcome bonus of 100,000 points when they spend $5,000 after three months1.

As first unveiled in April, the Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Luxury Card is designed for the most premium SPG loyalists, as well as Marriott Rewards and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards loyalists, and is packed with rich benefits and rewards to enhance Card Members’ travel journey. The Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Luxury Card has an annual fee of $4502 and comes with benefits including up to $300 in statement credits each year of Card Membership for eligible purchases at more than 6,700 participating SPG and Marriott Rewards hotels, complimentary Gold Elite Status with the ability to earn Platinum Elite Status after spending $75,000 on the Card in a calendar year, an annual free night award (redemption level at or under 50,000 points) every year after the Card account anniversary3, Priority Pass Select membership, Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fee credit and more opportunities to earn points, including:
  • For each dollar of eligible purchases charged to the Card, Card Members can earn:

    • 6X points at participating SPG and Marriott Rewards hotels
    • 3X points at U.S. restaurants and on flights booked directly with airlines
    • 2X points on other eligible purchases
Following our announcement in April and the rollout of Marriott’s unified loyalty programs earlier this month, we are thrilled to now offer consumers the new Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Luxury Card,” said Eva Reda, Executive Vice President, Global Cobrand Partnerships at American Express. “No matter where life or business may take our Card Members, our SPG Card products are meant to support them throughout every step of their travel journey. The value and perks of these Cards were developed in response to their feedback, and we love that we are able to meet their travel needs directly.”

Additionally, as of August 1, the SPG American Express Consumer Credit Card and SPG American Express Business Credit Card now come with an updated suite of benefits for new and existing Card Members. These updates include a refreshed points earning structure, as well as a number of new valuable benefits including an annual free night award (redemption level at or under 35,000 points)3, and Automatic Silver Elite Status. The SPG American Express Business Credit Card also offers 4 points for each dollar of eligible purchases at U.S. restaurants, at U.S. gas stations, on wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers & on U.S. purchases for shipping. These Cards now also offer new rich welcome bonuses1. Eligible new SPG American Express Consumer Card Members can receive 75,000 points after they spend $3,000 on the Card in the first three months, and for a limited time until October 31, 2018, eligible new SPG American Express Business Card Members can receive 100,000 points after they spend $5,000 on the Card in the first three months.1

The updated suite of Starwood Preferred Guest Cards from American Express now offers more ways to earn and use points across Marriott International’s portfolio of over 6,700 hotels located in 130 countries and territories, across 29 brands, as well as across the expanded Marriott Moments experiential marketplace.
