Kids can do all this and more at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. Launching January 2018, the hotel’s new family-friendly offerings include: themed family suites with exciting décor to take children on a journey of the imagination; a 1,300-square-meter (about 13,993-square-foot) outdoor play area with gardens and a pool; and an 850-square-meter (about 9,150-square-foot) indoor play area with spaces dedicated to art, music, cooking and celebrations. Designed to encourage fun, family time and learning through play for children aged one to 12 years old, the new offerings add to the hotel’s recently refurbished Tower Wing rooms, which were unveiled May 2017.

Themed Family Suites and Deluxe Family Rooms

On the ninth floor of the Tower Wing, 19 new Deluxe Family Rooms and five Themed Family Suites will allow families of up to two adults and two children 12 years old and below to stay together at the iconic Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. Each of the Themed Family Suites measures 76 square meters (about 818 square feet) and offers an immersive space for children to sleep and dine with unique whimsical interiors and beds. The five themes include Safari, Treetop, Castle, Underwater and Space.

The suites have two bathrooms (the larger of which is designed for children), additional shelving and storage space, a deep vanity sink for baby washing and space for diaper changing, as well as a pantry with an induction heater, a sink and a large refrigerator. Guests staying in the Themed Family Suites will also enjoy effortless in-room check-in and dedicated family concierge service.

At 38 square meters (about 409 square feet), the Deluxe Family Rooms include built-in beds to provide children with sleeping space without reducing the room size. Families will appreciate the additional storage space and comfort.

The Themed Family Suites start from SGD657 (about USD488) per night. Guests can make reservations from December 16, 2017 at www.shangri-la.com/singapore, by sending an email to reservations.sls@shangri-la.com or calling (65) 6235 1666.

Encouraging learning through play with Buds by Shangri-La

Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore is the first hotel on Orchard Road to design and build an interactive play space for children. Spanning over 2,150 square meters (about 23,142 square feet) in total – 850 square meters (about 9,150 square feet) indoors and another 1,300 square meters (about 13,993 square feet) outside – the curated play space allows children, both hotel and non-hotel guests, to learn through play in a creative environment and bond with their parents.

Outdoors, families can enjoy a luxurious sanctuary of lush gardens in a 40,500-square-meter (about 435,938-square-foot) property, a free-form pool and an outdoor playground. The outdoor area features with a giant pirate ship structure offering challenging climbs and slides, and a water play zone with splash pads.

Opening in early 2018, Buds by Shangri-La will feature specially curated installations to take younger guests on a journey of discovery through four key narratives: embracing nature, adventure, camaraderie and independence. Themed activity spaces encourage fun learning, including: Muddy, for budding artists who like to make a splash; Stage, a music studio for young performers; Bake, a fully equipped cooking classroom for children and parents; and an interactive Party Room for celebrations.

For parents’ convenience and peace of mind, Buds by Shangri-La uses radio-frequency identification (RFID) wristbands for children and natural organic materials. There is a nursing room and café where parents can recharge.

Premium children’s features and amenities

In addition to creating a family-friendly atmosphere, Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore offers a range of exceptional childcare amenities from Stokke – the leading brand for children’s furniture and equipment – including car seats for airport transfers, strollers, travel cots, high chairs, and smaller comfort items like bath time toys, bibs, thermometers, potties, diaper bins, sterilizers and more. These items are available upon request prior to and during the stay, as well as at the hotel’s restaurants to ensure families travel light, check-in fast and dine in comfort.

“The Shangri-La luxury family experience complements the public perception of the brand as a leading business hotel,” said Cetin Sekercioglu, executive vice president of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. “Shangri-La’s hallmark of hospitality from the heart provides further depth and inspiring experiences for the entire family through the four pillars of encouraging fun, peace of mind, family time and learning through play.”
