Marriott International, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Carlos Tarrero as the new General Manager of The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort, Langkawi. Carlos brings a wealth of both hotel and resort operational experiences to this exciting new role where he will oversee all management functions at the resort. In addition, he will be instrumental in driving further revenue growth and guest satisfaction while maintaining The Andaman’s status as one of Langkawi’s leading resorts.
With over 20 years of resort and hotel management experience, Carlos had worked across the globe from the United Kingdom, the United States, Indonesia and his homeland, Spain, before being promoted to be the General Manager of Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Krabi, Thailand and subsequently appointed to open The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui, where he was in-charge of leading the pre-opening team in resort operations.
With Carlos’ decade’s worth of experience in managing and leading the management team in providing exceptional service and driving revenue as well as profit, Carlos aims to bring The Andaman further in the market, especially in terms of guest experiences. “The Andaman has already got a great setting but it is the impeccable service provided by our team as well as their attention to detail that will give our guests an exceptional stay experience," commented Carlos.
The stunning resort that’s set between a 10-million-year-old rainforest and the exquisite Datai Bay is also Carlos’ first – The Luxury Collection resort. “I’m thrilled to be learning more about The Luxury Collection as a brand, and Langkawi is one of the best places in the world to represent a brand that takes pride in delivering exceptional indigenous experiences that defines the destination. My wife and I love spicy food and we are especially excited about Malaysia’s vast food culture,” says Carlos. During his free time, Carlos enjoys spending time with his family.
