National and local government officials, business owners and the press all mingled over cocktails & canapés as the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) awarded Gaia Hotel & Reserve five stars, the highest rating given by the Institute. The evening included fire dancers & jugglers, magic, traditional dancers, live jazz and was topped off with fireworks over the Pacific. The celebration was to officially inaugurate the new multi-million dollar Club House, “…which includes the reception area, a restaurant and bar, a full-service spa, a gymnasium, a conference room, a business center and a presidential-type suite,” all located at the highest point on Gaia’s 14-acre property, which includes a 12-acre private Nature Reserve. CNN features the resort as “a tropical getaway for Hollywood’s elite, one of the newest hot spots…really a special place.”

Travel + Leisure says “Gaia Hotel & Reserve is so amazing! It shows that if you go to Costa Rica, you don’t have to give up luxury to go eco, and you don’t have to break the bank. It’s a beautiful property, and they remained eco-conscious and have not destroyed the habitat of those beautiful animals!”

Small Luxury Hotels of the World proclaims Gaia as its new “gem” in Central America.

Travel + Leisure Senior Editor Nilou Motamed , in a recent CNN travel interview with News Correspondent Linda Stouffer, probably states the fate of the new boutique, luxury hideaway best… “you should go before everyone else does.”
This closely follows a Travel + Leisure article “Five Ways Costa Rica” where Gaia Hotel & Reserve is listed in the “Luxury” category… “Costa Rica’s latest luxe addition…many are content to simply drink in the view of the Pacific from the dark-wood, clean-lined rooms.”
Small Luxury Hotels of the World describes Gaia as “…this intimate resort that not only merges into the landscape but creates a theatrical space for luxury living: the sleek elegance of Bauhaus balanced with the richness of leather, teak and rattan. The resort is chic and imaginative from start to finish with vast rooms, private butler included, Italian
fittings, bathrooms rendered in slate, Balinese screens and your own Jacuzzi with a jungle view.”

A German publisher noted the hotel’s unique architectural design, and is featuring Gaia in their “Best Designed Eco Resorts,” book coming out this summer.
LuxWoman, a Portuguese women’s fashion magazine, featured Gaia in its May, 2006 edition, and a 10-page spread can be found in the June, 2006 edition of Su Casa, the premier interior design magazine in Costa Rica. On June 9, 2006, The Tico Times’ “ Exploring Costa Rica” special edition gives a reporter’s insight on Gaia Hotel & Reserve after her 2-day vacation at the resort.
All this just 6 months after opening is good news for new hoteliers Boris Marchegiani and David Fleming. College buddies from The University of Tennessee, both had decided “it was time for a country as unique as Costa Rica to have an equally unique hotel.” Press-shy, the two owners prefer to have their satisfied clients speak for them…

“If you want to be pampered, this is your place to be!”
“The service is unforgettable and the warmth of its people will stay with me forever.”
“…I leave with a great big smile, a rested soul and a new outlook on life. I look forward to returning to this home sooner than later.”
“My stay at Gaia made me believe I could be a child again. Everyone here cared for us with such
consideration to our needs & desires, there was nothing more we could have asked for.”
“This resort is fantastic! The food and service are incredible and over the top!”
“Our dinner here was the best in Costa Rica, the swordfish the best I’ve ever had!”
“Brilliant, simply brilliant!”

“Where the mountain rainforest & jungle slope downward and abruptly embrace and kiss the Pacific, the adventure begins at Manuel Antonio’s new 5-star addition, Gaia Hotel & Reserve. Pamper yourself on 500 thread count Italian bed linens, dine on New Zealand rack of lamb and succulent Pacific jumbo shrimp and take a dip in the 3-tiered, infinity-edge cascade pools.

As the sun starts to set, dash some Aveda bath salts into your in-room Jacuzzi and let the hydro-jets do their work as you relax and enjoy the jungle and ocean views. All rooms feature central A/C, cable, flat screen TVs, portable phones, home entertainment units, internet connectivity, coffee-maker, mini-bar, safety deposit box, hair dryer, 24/7 room service and an array of in-room spa services. Your personal Valet will see to your every need, and the on-staff Nature Guide will host you on an exclusive tour of our 12-acre Nature Reserve. Gaia specializes in an unforgettable, luxurious vacation experience!”
