From an emerging neighborhood in Milan to a new addition to Ibiza’s legendary party scene via a thrilling throwback to the golden years of the French Riviera, Design Hotels has selected seven brand-new member properties primed to play host to the halcyon days of summer.

Ion City Hotel – Reykjavik, Iceland

Fully launching in July 2017 and embodying the spirit of adventurous travel and cool Nordic design that defines its sister property Ion Adventure Hotel, the 18-room Ion City Hotel is making its mark on Reykjavik. Here, an aesthetic characterized by a deep respect for Icelandic design and craftsmanship is enhanced by collaborations with top international design firms, resulting in a cosmopolitan fusion worthy of its home city’s impeccable creative credentials. Hôtel Les Roches Rouges – Saint-Raphaël, France

Making its debut on the glorious Provence coast between St. Tropez and Cannes, Hôtel Les Roches Rouges is an authentic French Riviera experience straight out of the late 1950s. Renowned Parisian architecture firm Festen has reworked the original mid-century structure to emphasize the clean nautical-modernist lines of the 50-room hotel’s classic Riviera architecture. Inside, an aesthetic defined by azure blue, crisp white, and red ochre is complemented by polished concrete, aged oak, and terra cotta ceramics by Céramiques du Beaujolais. Taking advantage of its spectacular waterfront setting, the hotel features a natural seawater swimming pool and a swimming lane cut directly into the coastal rock.

Sir Joan Hotel – Ibiza Town, Spain

Opening in July 2017 and surrounded by Ibiza’s renowned and exciting nightlife, with Talamanca beach and the city center only a stroll away, Sir Joan Hotel brings to mind an exclusive members-only retreat thanks to a thoughtful spatial design that flows seamlessly from interior to exterior. The hotel’s 38 rooms and suites feature stripped wooden yacht flooring and highly polished stainless steel wall panels, which emulate the movement of waves when the sunlight streams through the windows. On the top floor, two penthouse suites boast private wraparound balconies with outdoor seating areas and unrivalled views over the marina and old town. For nighthawks and early birds alike the hotel’s gourmet burger joint The Butcher is open all day.

Myconian Kyma – Mykonos, Greece

Set a stone’s throw from Mykonos Town, Myconian Kyma claims a golden, sun-drenched perch just above the buzz below. Taking its name from the Greek word for "wave", the 52-room and 29-suite property carries this emblem throughout. From the curved lines of the multi-level infinity pool to the design and furniture seen throughout the whitewashed structures, a gentle flow abounds. Unobstructed views pervade the eyeline, while top-notch pampering ensures relaxation and respite for the whole family. And there’s even a chapel for those taking the other kind of plunge.

On the Nikolaifleet canal in Hamburg’s old town, design agency FG Stijl have directed their award-winning nous to artfully converting a former goods store to create the 94-room Sir Nikolai. Extending into the glass-covered courtyard, The Patio is the beating heart of the hotel with its fluid inside/out setup playing host to both cozy fireside soirées and the eternal cocktail hours of summer. The subterranean spa takes on an elegant yet casual vibe, taking care of body and mind, while more immediate nourishment comes courtesy of Izakaya Asian Kitchen & Bar, an innovative Japanese-Peruvian dining experience.

Oddfellows On The Park – Cheshire, UK

Housed in a 19th-century Victorian mansion and surrounded by 100 acres of mature oak trees, woodlands, ponds and lawns, Oddfellows On The Park has all the trappings of a luxurious country retreat. And yet its location just 15 kilometers south of the vibrant city of Manchester means that one of the UK’s most exciting art and cultural scenes is on the doorstep. The contrasts continue with the 22-room hotel’s interiors, where original features such as the Victorian fireplaces, galleried staircase, and stained-glass roof light rub shoulders with quirky, contemporary design pieces and dashes of bold color.
