Hotel Lungarno: Florence, Italy

Ferragamo-family owned Hotel Lungarno in Italy opens 1 June after a six-month renovation and refurbishment. Designed by internationally renowned interior designer Michele Bonan, Hotel Lungarno now features 65 guest rooms, including 10 new family rooms and suites, a brand new lobby lounge and a renewed emphasis on culinary and art programming reflective of the destination. Hotel Lungarno is the first hotel designed by Michele Bonan, and this renovation project reflects his passion for this ‘Grand Dame’ hotel and its significance to the city of Florence. This year marks the hotel’s 50th anniversary, having opened as a boutique, luxury hotel in 1967 before becoming Lungarno Collection’s flagship hotel in 1995.

Le Pavillon de la Reine, Paris, FranceLe Pavillon de la Reine unveils two new suites - Suite de la Reine and Suite Madame de Sévigné - which take inspiration from the hotel’s historic setting, deep in Le Marais, the oldest quartier in Paris. Designed by Pavillon de la Reine’s original designers, Didier Benderli and his team at Kerylos Interiors, each suite blends a wonderful sense of place with the understated sophistication and impossibly chic nature of Pavillon de la Reine. Sleek, modern interiors with rich colour palettes are finished with antiques, paintings and original features, as well as chandeliers handcrafted by French artisans and doors finished with gold leaf for a decadent flourish. Both will have plenty of natural light and be exceptionally private.

Nayara Springs, Costa Rica

Nayara Springs recently completed a large-scale expansion - the adults-only property located on the fringes of the Arenal Volcano saw the addition of 19 new villas, a new pool and swim-up bar, a new yoga pavilion, rainforest walking trails, and a reception area featuring a one-of-a-kind espresso bar. The coffee beans are sourced from local farmers and roasted in-house in small batches, allowing guests to enjoy the authentic flavours and aromas of artisanal Costa Rican coffee. The new restaurant, Mis Amores, will also offer casual Mediterranean fare, serving many of the herbs and vegetables grown in the on-property organic garden.

Officially launching this month, GBR is a new all-day British restaurant in the heart of St James's, London. GBR – Great British Restaurant - offers the finest traditional and contemporary British dishes presented in a striking contemporary space. Norfolk-born Executive Head Chef Nigel Mendham spearheads the exciting launch of GBR. Nigel has played a major role in the kitchens at some of the UK’s finest restaurants, including several prestigious country house hotels in England, such as South Lodge and Stapleford Park. GBR will be open all day every day - from breakfast through lunch to afternoon tea and dinner. Typical dishes will include a traditional Scotch Egg, British charcuterie with pickled vegetables; Isle of Gigha halibut with red wine and foraged sea herbs; New season lamb with smoked aubergine; Fish and chips with beer batter and mushy peas; Treacle sponge with custard and roasted banana; and Dark chocolate mousse with hazelnut.
