Luxury Property Opens following a $25 (USD) Million Redevelopment and Announces New Room Rates

The Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa has reopened following a dramatic transformation into an exclusive luxury resort.

In a destination famous for its pristine beaches and world-class diving, the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa adds one element that has been missing: a high standard of quality and luxury in accommodations, facilities and recreational experiences. The opening marks the beginning of the transformation and re-positioning of Cozumel as an upscale destination.

“The reopening of the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa marks a very special day for Grupo Presidente and Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. This property has undergone an incredible transformation into one of the finest resorts in the Caribbean. We look forward to showing it to the world,” said Mr. Gordon Viberg, CEO of Grupo Presidente, operators of Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.

Deluxe Accommodations

All of the resort’s 220 rooms and suites boast widescreen plasma television sets, designer furnishings and top level amenities, with oceanfront rooms offering unparalleled views of the Caribbean Sea. Room categories begin with Pool View and move on to Ocean View, Beach Front Superior, Ocean Suite, Reef Deluxe, Ocean Suite 2-Bedroom, Reef Suite and Presidential Suite. Colors for the fabrics and artwork throughout the resort were carefully chosen to complement the lush, colorful outdoor environment.

The Spa

One of the stars of the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa is the 6,500 square-foot spa, offering a full menu of therapeutic and revitalizing treatments that benefit the body, mind and soul. The spa offers services for both men and women and incorporates indigenous products of Cozumel in its treatments, including several one-of-a-kind signature treatments such as The Mayan Journey, Mayan Moon Massage and Mayan Ceremony of Love.

The spa services also include body polishes, body wraps, hydrotherapies, baths, facials, peels, facial enhancers, anti-cellulite therapies, feet and hand treatments, manicures/pedicures and more.

Dive, Snorkel, Explore

The Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa, which has long been the choice for discerning travelers who love to dive and snorkel, features a PADI Five Palm watersports operation, Scuba Du, ideal for first-time divers as well as certified divers. Guests that wish to experience the “Discover Scuba” program or become a certified diver can do so at the resort’s expanded facilities. The resort, located on nearly 1,000 feet of Cozumel’s most prized white sand beach, is just minutes from the magnificent Palancar Reef, part of the second largest barrier reef in the world.

Guests can also enjoy the many cultural and eco-tourism activities near the resort, including Chankanaab National Park, which offers snorkeling, diving and an area to swim with dolphins as well as the ancient Mayan ruins located on the north side of the island.

Golf Lovers Need Apply

The resort includes a new golf putting green where golfers can hone their short game before heading out to the Cozumel Country Club, which features an 18-hole, 6,734-yard, par-72 championship golf course designed by the Nicklaus Design Group. The challenging course is built around Cozumel’s native trees, red mangroves and natural wetland.

Delectable Dining

The restaurant choices at Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa range from elegant dining at the gourmet Italian restaurant, Alfredo di Roma, which features a spectacular bar and lounge area with inspiring views of the Caribbean Sea, to the casual oceanfront Caribeño Restaurant. The resort’s other casual dining option is the Cana Brava Beach Bar & Grill.

Children’s Club

The complimentary “Chiqui Club” Children's Program offers children the opportunity to learn about Mexican culture and history with activities including kite making, sandcastle building, arts & crafts, nature walks, iguana searches, children's aerobics, treasure hunts and more. This supervised program allows parents to share a little “alone time.”
