Guests will discover recipes Chef Thierry Marx has created for astronaut, Thomas Pesquet, to taste during his six-month mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS). To make the most of their space-age experience at the hotel, guests can book the One More Night Offer, which provides a complimentary third night’s stay.

In response to a request from Thomas Pesquet and the European Space Agency, Thierry Marx created several dishes for the astronaut to enjoy at Christmas, birthdays and other celebrations during his mission, which began in November 2016. The Michelin-starred chef’s recipes complied with strict health and safety rules developed by the French Food Innovation Centre, directed by Thierry Marx and chemist, Raphael Haumont.

Guests will have an opportunity to dine like an astronaut on 7, 14, 21 and 28 March, when a gastronomic version of the dishes prepared for Thomas Pesquet will be presented at Sur Mesure par Thierry Marx. With the restaurant transformed to resemble a spaceship for these events, guests will be able to choose from a six-course menu that contains many surprises, including the three recipes created by Chef Thierry for the French spaceman: Lucullus’ ox tongue, Chicken supreme with morel mushrooms, and Apple gingerbread. The restaurant menu is priced at EUR 230 per head (excluding beverages).

Mandarin Oriental, Paris’s involvement in Thomas Pesquet’s space mission will be celebrated in other ways at the hotel during March. The Cake Shop will offer the Planet Marx pastry, which is shaped like Mars and made of Madong chocolate and caramelized pears. The pastry is priced EUR 8 for take-away or EUR 15 at Camélia. At Bar 8, barmen have invented five Star Cocktails, including Starman (vodka, violet liqueur, cranberry juice, lime juice, and hibiscus syrup with gold and silver powder) and Stardust (tequila, red Haut Médoc wine, Heering liqueur and raspberry puree). Cocktails priced at EUR 27 each.

The One More Night Offer is available until 29 March 2017. Rates from EUR 925 for a Deluxe room.

Room reservations can be made through Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s on-line reservations service at www.mandarinoriental.com or by contacting the reservations office at Mandarin Oriental, Paris on +33 1 7098 7333 / mopar-reservations@mohg.com.
