Six Senses appoints General Manager for resort in Cambodia

The appointment of Nicolette Wijers as general manager of Six Senses Krabey Island has been announced by Chief Executive Officer Neil Jacobs of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. The 40-pool villa resort on the private island of Krabey in Cambodia is currently in development and is scheduled to premier at the end of 2017.

A graduate in hospitality management from the Netherlands and with over 20 years of experience within the international hotel and tourism industry, Nicolette started her journey as the duty manager of the Intercontinental Hotel in Amsterdam. She moved on to become general manager in various properties in Australia including Beach Club Resort, Hamilton Island, Anthology Traveller’s Collection, Gold Coast where she was in charge of three properties, based in head office, and Huka Lodge in New Zealand.

Her eight years as a general manager involved several openings and refurbishment projects. Prior to joining Six Senses, Nicolette was hotel manager at qualia on Australia's Hamilton Island. A confessed travel enthusiast, Nicolette has explored New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia, Nepal, Tibet, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and South Africa together with her husband. She lived in California for a year while in college; New Zealand for five years and Australia for nine years where she currently has a home. She aspires to travel to Antarctica and Patagonia in the future. Nicolette chronicles her travel experiences through photography, her big hobby.

She is interested in most sports and used to speed skate when she was in Holland. She now focuses on wellness – yoga, meditation, Pilates and holistic wellness as well as pure and wholesome food.

Prior to taking up her new role with Six Senses in Cambodia, Nicolette has spent a couple of months at Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives and Six Senses Yao Noi in Thailand. Six Senses Krabey Island is comprised of pool villas set around the naturally landscaped island. Guests arrive at the mainland reception before the short water transfer to the island. Sihanoukville Airport is less than a 10 minute drive from the mainland jetty and has the capability to facilitate international private jets and helicopters as well as flights from Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
