The award-winning Spa Grande, A Waldorf Astoria Spa, named "Top Spa in Hawaii" by regional and national publications, has refreshed 50,000 sq. ft. of relaxation rooms, therapy rooms and Hawaii's largest water therapy terme in celebration of the famed Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort 25thanniversary on September 04, 2016.

The renovations include a revamping of public spaces, guest rooms, restaurants and spa totaling $70 million. The restorations took place in the fourth quarter last year and focused on modernizing the "dry" area treatment rooms with ohia wood flooring, modern window shades and light fixtures, and air conditioning. The relaxation area is decorated in softer shades of island tones include sand-colored carpet and upholstered seating. The outdoor relaxation area will receive new chaise lounges, while the treatment rooms each have individual iHome speakers so that guests may customize their music.

Guests will start their treatment journey in the largest terme "wet" area in Hawaii, home to the new Healing Waters of Maui five soaking baths, a Roman whirlpool tub with cold plunge, Japanese furo bath with hot and cold plunge, cascading waterfall massage, and Swiss jet showers. There are wet and dry saunas in the area.

"The iconic Spa Grande conjures visuals of luxurious indulgence and relaxation like no other spa in Hawaii," said Sharon Ogawa, spa director at Spa Grande. "We are the place that ancient and modern therapies are offered in a luxury environment. Soothing massage, facials, body care treatments and therapies - it's an exceptional experience that never disappoints."

Spa Grande became A Waldorf Astoria Spa with the reopening January 1, 2016 creating a seamless experience for guests at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort and those visiting the spa.

New Menu Offerings

A well-rounded menu aligns with Spa Grande's mission of high quality, pure and natural products with a focus on Hawaiian influences and wellness.

ESPA-based Treatments - Spa Grande has adopted the ESPA product line and one-third of the new spa menu is recognized ESPA-based treatments. A global spa leader, ESPA creates natural products that are rich in heritage, texture and aroma.

Hawaiian Cultural Influences - Many body treatments and therapies use Hawaiian ingredients and inspiration including the popular Palaau Journey - Hawaiian lomi lomi massage, full-body wrap, scalp and foot massage using Maui products. 80-minutes for $260.

Taking the Waters is an ancient healing ritual of therapeutic renewal, and in Hawaiian culture, as in other indigenous cultures, water is sacred and life-giving. Spa Grande's defining Terme Wailea Hydrotherapy sets it apart from any spa in Hawaii. Each spa guest enjoys an hour in the terme prior to any treatment. The new theme in the terme soaking baths is Healing Waters of Maui and includes the island's misty clouds, waterfalls, rainforest, streams and ocean. The baths were developed to obtain specific therapeutic results with aromatic benefits. Guests may bring the waters home with them by purchasing Ala Lani Bath & Body's custom bath salts and misters, while Ala Lani donates $1 to charitywater.org for every purchase.

The complimentary Hawaiian sunrise experience - E Ala E - is offered the third Thursday monthly. A rejuvenating and inspiring wellness experience, guests learn a simple Hawaiian oli (chant) and enter the ocean to release the past and all of life's stresses. Emerging from the ocean renewed, guests welcome the rising sun with a rousing "E Ala E" chant that creates life energy for the day ahead.

Wellness/Fitness - Spa Grande launches SOCIAL, a monthly fitness class combining an hour of movement with a social hour of adult beverages following for $25 per person. The classes are cleverly combined as Barre and Bevies or Movement and Mai Tai, for example.

Yoga on the beach is offered complimentary 7 a.m. daily, and meditation indoors Sunday at 7:30 a.m. Daily fitness class offerings include group cycle, dance, barre, core fusion and foam roller. New Precor cardio equipment is installed in the fitness center.
